Please don't take it wrong, I'm fascinated by Czech culture and love to learn about it, but what are those costumes that look a bit like skirts and the belly-free(? sorry don't know the English word for it) one - are they meant to look female-like or does it have some other reasons and if so, what are they? :) I've seen constumes like these now and then and always wondered how they're intended, if it is some kind of innuendo to a female side of a man or something... I would love answers! :) And these dancers are fucking awesome! That body control - insane. Love this dance. Much love from Germany!

hello, the dances are slovak and the real reason for the short nature of the shirts is probably pretty much unknown. however, there is a legend about the people from the region of podpoľanie, for which this shirt is typical, stealing sausages and hiding it under their shirt. apparently, the king, to prevent this, cut their shirts short.

@@samuelmichlik8016oh, thats so interesting! :D thanks for telling, whether it's just a legend or really the reason, i love to learn about things like that. Never would have thought of a reason like that😄 but one question - isn't the odzemek Czech and from Valašsko? Or does it also belong to slovak culture when it's obviously also danced there?
