I Think The interviewer was Running out of time and really Wanted to see Her sing Live, which was impossible since She was resting Her Voice. She was always a real Lady in every interview and we are proud that She is a Peruvian Legend.

No he wasn't. He just wanted to hear her sing like anybody in front of Yma Sumac would have asked, but he understood because she wasn't feeling too well and he was polite. When he interrupted her, it was only to ask about the time when dutch Queen Juliana was a fan of Yma. Of course he is curious about that and also his audience because it's the queen of their country

That was fantasic! I have never seen it befofe. I have always loved her many versions of her "resting" from 1972 to 1984! In truth, she was here in Los Angeles, living a relatively normal life. She came back around in the 1980's to a huge, new, young, cult following. She is so cute, I can hardly stand it sometimes! This video is a joy.

You can tell from watching this that she was a very warm woman with great stories. It would've been great if someone did a more lengthy interview with her where she talked about her whole life and performing all over the world. Like if she went on Dick Cavet or the old Merv Griffin show, where they did real interviews.

I keep noticing in a lot of her Interviews "certain folk" tend to be overly pushy with her in interviews.I'd gather from her responses, Yma's hiatus was due to her becoming exhausted by the over commercialization of show business. When you're exotic, beautiful, smart and blessed naturally; " folks" want you to explain yourself or be open to teach them especially when "they" have to forcefully develop a vocal talent of such complexity. Everyone is different, and God makes no mistakes or destines anyone to become a show business slave. Unfortunately "folks" think they're entitled to everything you know. My response would have been simply can your country's 1940's & 1950's Opera singers of yesteryear still sing as well today? Well look at me and compare them in relation to your questioning about my voice-I have a rooted sound given to me by God. Leontyne Price had it, Whitney Houston had it, Shirley Bassey had it! You have the gift you have it- no one can explain it further.

Two things going on here. Mrs.Sumac feels uncomfortable from the start, never letting go of her purse. The normally quite empathetic interviewer (I know him) is confused and asks silly questions. Result: an uncormfortable interview.
