Poem For The People was released on Chicago II, their second and first double album. It was written by Robert Lamm and really showcases a lot of dynamics, tempos and various riffs and drum patterns. It's a great song that again has Danny Seraphine at his best. A fun song to learn.

It appears that you practice the precision of each fill rather than going by improv- do you create your own arrangements by ear, then rehearse them? Or, where do you get the parts?

Thanks for watching! On more intricate songs like this one, I get the feel of the groove and the tendencies of the drummer. On all covers, I try to play the notes as close to the original as I can. I’ll listen to the song and write out the intricate odd signature beats and fills and practice them, and when ready record the song.
