I can never watch this MV without tearing up, especially when Hwasa gets hit by her own arrow and at the end when you can see her holding back tears. As a moomoo who knows the amount and extent of hate she got, and in the recent Mamamoo WAW documentary where she shared a little bit of how much it really impacted her, this song and MV hits really hard. Loved your analysis of the lyrics and video. Just wanted to point out that the arrows did follow her everywhere, except at night when the world (ie. haters/media) were asleep, and in the end, when instead of avoiding and walking away from the arrow, she turns around and changes direction to face them head on. Such a powerful imageries this entire MV. Hwasa is so brave and strong to have gone through what she did and not only survived but thrived. Many artists don't. She and each member of Mamamoo are such strong women, all of them. Thank you for your reaction!

About the "whee" part, someone said it could refer the wind but also, it made me think about something Hwasa told, when younger she asked (as a joke) to Wheein what she would do if she died, Wheein answered she couldn't live without her, and Hwasa said that after her answer she thought that without Wheein she couldn't have survived all these years, and the first time she says "whee" it's followed by "confort me", they're always there for each other, best friends since they're 13 years old.

Omg that's the sweetest thing... it made me tear up! T^T

In Korean, 희 (whee/hui) is an onomatopoeia for the wind noises, as well as the first syllable of Wheein's name. She was most likely referring to the wind here, but it could also have a double meaning and reference Wheein as well. Hope this helps!

One of the few songs that actually made me tear up and I didn't even turn on the English translations on first watch. I half expected this type of emotional song from Hwasa because most of her solo songs in Mamamoo's albums were always very personal and sad.

LOL I just wanted to tell you that there's a great explanation for both Maria & LMM by DKDKTV, turns out you already knew about that hahaha. LMM is still one of my favorite song in general. It's the type of a song which you can feel it without even understanding the lyrics. Like you're not just listening to it, it becomes part of you and you become part of it.

You got all the major visual metaphors in the MV. Nice job noticing that the arrows follow her everywhere as she moves from public to increasingly private spaces. Agree with hannie248's comment, tho imo she was simply facing the arrows head on at the end. She's neither fearful nor defiant and I don't think she was holding back tears. After realizing that only she can truly hurt herself she's accepted her situation and she has the courage and fortitude to endure, like a flower exposed to the wind and rain and still blooming despite everything. I think the calm acceptance that embraces both the beauty and the turmoil is foreshadowed in the overhead yin-yang image of her in the center of a circle of light and dark. It's perhaps a fragile and precarious mental balancing act, as indicated by being on the edge of a cliff, but she takes responsibility for being the source of her own strengths and weaknesses. It's a solution that transcends the questions Do you want to get some more? and Do you want to go somewhere? Those impulses lead to running around in circles, trying to cover up the problem by becoming rich and successful and accumulating more things (objects, awards & accomplishments) or to avoid it by running away or committing suicide. LMM was my pick for 2020 song of the year.

This song gets me everytime. It is so powerful. Songs like LMM, Maria, I'm a Bit** , are all connected. One of the saddest videos I ever saw was when Hwasa was talking about a conversation with Wheein. Hwasa: Wheein-ah, what would you do if I died? WI: Ah, what's up with you..How would I live without you.. Makes you wonder how close Hwasa was pushed to the edge from all the hate she was getting.

Oh my gosh that's heartbreaking to hear. :( I hope she was never so sad she thought of that... But even so it seems like she has good people in her life who love her and support her through everything and she's such a strong amazing person. 🤗

@@kayepopreactions43 That conversation was when they were trainees and it was a joke between Hwasa and Wheein. They were on the Han river just talking and it wasn't serious.

@PDVism Жыл бұрын
@@jojanusch You are so right. Things said kidding still hold a kernel of truth. Why indeed would one talk about death if one didn't have prior thoughts about it. Never letting go, takes on a hold new meaning. Makes me think of the qoute at the end of another solo song of hers, namely 'Be calm'. "Sometimes even to live is an act of courage" And to think, the lady wasn't even past her mid twenties when she wrote that. Respect.

This song is really a masterpiece. I think Hwasa mentioned they were even supposed to shoot this MV in the US, but due to COVID that plan didn't push through. For other MMM songs to check out, I'm thinking a lot of other Moos have already requested the ones with deep, powerful messages so here's a list of my recommendations of their silly songs this time ^^ These are fun songs to listen to even in your own time! No pressure on making videos.

For "recipe", you probably want to do an actual lyric video despite there being a music video... the mv is 6 minutes long and basically is the girls in a cooking competition with the song as background music. It's very fun (esp if you get the dailymotion upload with subtitles) but doesn't really do the song itself justice

And the fact that you said you are going to watch the explanation vid from DKDK made me so happy, because as I promised on the Maria reaction, you will be happy you did, and you will Love her that much more, and her music. The same when you see her Twit MV, watch the DKDK vid for that one. I wish he had done an explanation vid for all of her other solos. I Sooo look forward to your next Hwa Sa/Mamamoo reaction!

The first time I heard the song I wondered if with 'whee' she meant Wheein too, also because of the way it was written in the lyrics. So I wonder if the song is somehow about them. Happy to see other people thinking the same since i didn't find anybody talking about it until now. Love your reaction
