David Hyde Pierce memorized his lines for this sketch. You always see them sort of stiltedly reading off of cue cards, but here he actually just delivers it comfortably and naturally. That's an actor who takes his craft seriously...

Part of my 8th grade English class was poetry, we had a teacher like this and they actually reviewed several songs with us, had us watch the music videos and then discussed the songs and their possible meanings, he taught us music was simply poetry presented in another way. An admittedly attractive blonde girl in my college creative writing class wrote a poem that was about sailing, and the words she used were technical seafaring jargon, and even though I didn't understand it at the time, I remember being in awe with the imagery. I've never forgotten my reaction and I wish I had a copy of it stashed away somewhere but I doubt I do. I eventually took sailing lessons myself and I still remember her reading it out loud at the table ☺️ Strange memory.

We were so high from smoking weed and taking Valium that we forgot the lyrics and made them up as we went. The teacher not being familiar with the song, wasn’t the wiser. God I miss being a teenager sometimes. We are 44 years old now and still play music and our kids play as well. Mine is grown and in the army. Man how the years fly by.
