When taking delivery of a Model Y you do not get a key fob, all you get is two keycards. Mostly because you can have your phone as the key for the car. I decided to buy the Tesla Model Y / Model 3 Key Fob to try it out and see if I really need a key fob

I have the same experience with my Galaxy phone. Sometimes it opens right away when I walk up other times not. Even when my phone is unlocked, it takes about 5-10 seconds for the car to wake up and connect to my phone. I think at the end of your demo, the car didn't have time to enter sleep mode before you tried again.

Switching from a standard car where I had two key fobs included. Now I have to spend 400 extra euros. Would expect at least one key to be included with the car.

If you always have your smartphone to unlock, keep your key card in your wallet as back up. Chances are you'll always have one or the other with you.

Try holding the trunk button for 4 seconds and it should open up the charge port.

Tesla have managed to fuck up somthing that has worked perfectly on other vehicles with keyless entry for like over 10 years. You have to walk away from the car to lock it? No button on the door handle to force a lock or unlock? Can you please tell us if the keyfob lets you open a door that your are NOT next to. Eg, most cars will not let you unlock via the passenger door if the fob is next to the drivers door or visa versa. Does it make sure you are RIGHT NEXT to the car to unlock? Or does it allow unlocking because you are like within 10 meters?

It was tight so I don't think it will come out. I personally prefer the phone key and the card in the wallet more than having the key

By now you probably got fed up and bought the FOB. I purchased it after one year of owning my Tesla. It was a game changer. To get around dealing with the hesitation for the car to open up. When you’re about 20 feet from the car press the fob door open button twice. When I have two bags of groceries in my hand I could actually feel the fob in my pocket and press the button. So much better than depending on the credit card or the app.

i don’t understand why they don’t come with this? It’s a gimmick to use the card/or app. Where in the world do you keep ur keys at? I have house keys, garage keys, work keys. Where the hell would i keep them?

Why do you hide your license plate? There is nothing a thief can do to steal your car knowing your license plate number. As a matter of fact, your VIN is visible to all, and your license plate and state will reveal your VIN on an app.

I'm a professional. And with your license plate I can learn your home address. I can then file online a change of address with the Post Office and have your mail sent anywhere I wish INCLUDING a application for lost vehicle title.with a notary stamp... I can purchase a legit one for any licensed notary name and have that to mailed anywhere for 20 bucks.. using that I can have a new title for the vehicle mailed to me which would make their title worthless. Getting the registration form is even easier. With both title and registration as long as the bank doesn't own your vehicle say you have it paid off?... I can take both forms to Any Tesla Dealer or Reputable Locksmith and have a new Key Fob or physical key made for your vehicle. With a AD in craigslist along with title and key fob I could show up at your address , leave with your car And legitimately sale it that same hour. Fake I.D is the only step I left out and the second I hand the buyer the keys that fake I.D is lit on fire. Cash only deal makes me a happy man and when you call the police they're gonna eventually tell you it's a civil matter since your Title is worthless and everything on the bad guys end was done by the book. You can thank this countries pathetic Notary laws for that. It's the most under exploited hustle on earth. So hide your license plate whenever possible. It limits your exposure to only those who physically cross your path. Your welcome. I'm retired so I don't mind sharing some real life Pro Tips

Even the original wheels had scratches from the wheel cover clips before the plasti dip so probably it will damage it. I am thinking of trying it tho 😂

Exactly what I expected for a key fob!! For when I let my family borrow my car. They hate using the keycard cause they find it confusing I always wondered what could make it easier for them to understand? HERE IT IS!! Just like they’re used to!! A key fob they can just carry around and push the break and go!

Can you just walk up to the car and it automatically unlock (with the key fob in your pocket). You should notice the mirrors opening. Let me know because I’m thinking of getting this and then getting the automatic door handles so when I approach the car, it unlocks and the door handles pop out.
