Same happened with me last week, randomly an unknown Giant Red and Black Bird Pokemon and it was a 1200 CP Moltres I was confused as I never saw a Moltres like thay before (I've only watched the Anime till Sinnoh region I have no idea what Galar Region is and apparently these Version of Elemental Bird trio belong there)

I started playing nearly 2 months ago, and today I had my very first encounter with a Galarian bird today. Rainy, windy and daily incence. Believe it or not, but one silver pinap berry and one Ultra ball later, Zapdos checked in to my pokedex. Let the rest be just as easy 😅

Two days ago I was taking a walk and a Galarian Articuno spawned. I threw a curved ultraball without landing a nice, great, or excellent, expecting it to rip out and flee as it always does. But this time, not only did I catch it, I caught it on a critical capture. I couldn't believe it what happened. The only thing that kinda sucked that I already used my master ball on another Galarian Articuno, but it was still an awesome moment and probably one of the best highlights of my seven years of pokemon go experience.

I once encountered a Galarian Moltres (recently) and a Galarian Articuno (when i first started playing the game), i didn't manage to catch them but it felt amazing and it was still worth it for me.

Ive gotten an articuno while driving with a regular razz berry and ultra ball and a throw that didnt even land in the circle, caught it. Then used a master ball on zapdos. Working on getting my other master ball now in hopes of getting the moltres and collecting all 3!

Yes, Flying Medal works for all the Galarian birds, but do keep in mind that you're still better off with both medals of a given dual-type, because for dual-types, the medal-bonus is averaged between the two if they aren't at the same medal level. I've encountered a dozen or so Galarian birds so far, haven't caught any yet, but I did have one not flee until my second throw lol.

Here’s a tip to find galarian birds: if you walk somewhere new with your incense you can get a bird. I tried it and got a galarian moltres and articuno but they both ran away

I’d never seen a galarian bird until one day, I saw a moltres, didn’t catch it, ran away, got real sad. Then a minute later ANOTHER galarian moltres popped up. TWO BACK TO BACK. It was unbelievable. But I didn’t catch the second one either…. Haven’t seen another since.

I heard there is a catching-mechanic for the galarian-birds You need to throw away 15-20 pokeballs and then you use a golden razz and throw it at the pokemon. I tried that out, but I only threw 10 balls, but got 2 shakes for BOTH (Zapdos and Articuno). Sadly both ran away, but I am happy that I at least saw them ^^
