Great show guys! Curious on this: The magic number has been 60-62% for Orji. JJ was 72% last year and I asked my cohost if JJ through 62% would you have won it all. His answer was no. I personally don’t think athletic ability makes up for 10% of a completion %. What is your reason for that being the number he needs? Also check out Oregons trenches. This narrative they don’t have size is weird to me and recruiting shows that!!

So, I base my mid-60's target on the fact that Michigan probably won't ask Orji to throw unless it's necessary which means he'd be throwing in situations where a completion is more difficult (ex. 3rd and long...etc.) and converting about 60% of those passes feels like a good number to achieve for Michigan to have success since I also believe they will have a very good run game. Michigan and Ohio State were both undefeated going into the Michigan v Ohio State game last year. If it happens again this year with divisions are gone, it's possible they will meet again in the Big Ten Championship the following week.

Michigan fans talk about how good their team is at developing, but the main reason for that development has gone to the NFL and for good reason. The whole development vs dollar sign rhetoric is not accurate. The name of the game these days is “NIL”. Adapt or die. NIL is extremely huge in today’s college football. Your show mentions it each time recruiting is talked about and how Michigan’s NIL has improved. Ryan Day is getting the right staff together slowly, but surely. The defense is night and day from what it was in 2021 and especially the secondary. Look what Jim Knowles and Tim Walton have done. The addition of James Laurinaitis is huge too and recruiting has picked up in at LB. I can imagine he’s great at development as well. The only weak spot on the coaching staff has been Justin Frye.

Completion percentage is a trash stat. It's so easy to pad that stat. YPA (preferably adjusted net) means much more.

In his 9 years at Michigan he lost 11 games to top 10 teams, was upset 10 times by teams outside the Top 10, was 0-5 against Ohio State and was afraid to play Rayan Day one year. Then THE most miraculous turnout in college football history occurred in 2021, after going 49-22 in his first 6 years and afraid to play Day in 2020. For some strange unknown reason(wink) he goes 35-3. After which, he leaves for the NFL and takes all of his good soldier assistants with him.

Ohio State has more first round picks. They must know how to develop. Just prior to the past 3 games Ohio State beat Michigan 15 of 16 games. Ohio State lost to MIssouri because they were down to their 3rd string QB in the first quarter. If Michigan was down to their 3rd string QB against Ohio State, they don't make it to the Big Ten Title and thus don't win the National Title.
