The Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain Trinidad has been described as the lungs of the city. The distance of the road around the Queen's Park Savannah is 2.2 miles and is claimed to be the largest roundabout in the world. This wide expanse of grass rimmed with trees is 260 acres in size and has been a place of relaxation since 1817. Ideally suited for picnics and family outings the Queen's Park Savannah is also a place of history and the history of Trinidad, both old and modern can be seen in the historical buildings that surround the Savannah. These historical buildings include Queen's Park Hotel, George Brown House, Queen's Royal College, Stollmeyer's Castle, the President's House and others. Each of these buildings showcase a period in the history of Trinidad and Tobago of economic prosperity and it is easy to see each of them on a walk around the Queen's Park Savannah.
