I remember breaking down many ballet pointe shoes ❤ I like the sound of it! That’s a great idea sewing around the pointe of the shoe !!! I wish I would have thought about that when I was a ballerina . That makes sense to help with balance your pointe shoes !!!

It is crazy the amount of money you guys spend on those shoes, only to pull them apart and step on them, sew them, cut them up and otherwise alter them to only wear them for sometimes one performance only! Kind of nuts, really.
@Maramae37Ай бұрын
It is pretty crazy, really. Her company potentially pays for all her shoes, or gives her an allowance for pairs. I knew a girl about 6 years back who didn’t prep her shoes and she had incredibly strong feet and crazy arch. The shank snapped mid performance and cut her foot open (which I didn’t think was a common thing that happened, but I’ve never been en pointe, so I don’t know🤷🏻♀️). She started removing part of the shank after that performance and she said that she now takes the time to break in new pointe shoes. But she went through 1-2 pairs of pointe shoes a week.
@ClairePowell-s8yАй бұрын
Its not only for performances im a dancer and we wear them for class’s rehersals shows etc some dancers also need more pairs than others depending on how many hours they wear them a week and how fast their feet break down the shoes also we alter and sew them to fit brttter on our feet its supposed to be like that and your not destroying them we are molding them to our feet and the shoes never go to waist

Why do they put nails in them if every dancer pulls them out when customizing
@marissalynnnnnАй бұрын
Not everyone on pointe customizes their shoes the same, some keep it how it is and break it in as they work at the barre
@AnwarHossain-hl4oxАй бұрын
Why is the nail there though? Cause it's the same wether they remove it or not right? @@marissalynnnnn

@ its to keep the shank connected to the rest of the shoe! Majority of dancers just leave it in

Why doesn’t the cobbler make them with these options if it’s the desired norm?
@Maramae37Ай бұрын
I think it’s probably because everyone breaks in their shoes differently, and that is most likely why they’re not all made a specific way. I think breaking/removing part of the shank, and braking the box, are fairly common things, but not everyone does it. Everything shown is optional. Some people don’t break in their shoes at all. Some people shave the edges of the sole off (like she did) while others make criss-cross marks on the sole for grip, so I’ve heard. Some people apply jet glue to reinforce the shoe structurally, or soak them in water to make them more soft. Cobblers make the shoe one way, which is generally pretty hard/firm so that they are strong, and then dancers can alter it themselves so that it is more comfortable, and so that it shows off their arch better. Plus for beginners, I think it’s recommended that they don’t break in their shoes because it could affect the structural integrity, and put their ankles and toes at risk. Newbies to pointe sometimes are told to go with a pair of shoes that has an interchangeable shank, or a hard shank to strengthen their feet, which is most likely another reason they’re are told not to break their shoes in, so they just go with the new product and use a bunch of padding and inner protection for their feet. At least that’s how my old teacher explained it all.
@Maramae37Ай бұрын
I do say it would be good if the cobblers made shoes with these features as optional choices, but then you’d probably have dancers complaining that it’s done differently or something was put in the wrong place. It’s like with sewing the ribbons. Each dancer puts them in a slightly different spot. I’m just imagining the cobblers finishing a pair of pointe shoes, then suddenly smacking them against a table and squashing the box. The tears they would probably cry 😂
@spicyritas4795Ай бұрын
@ LOL 😂 my thoughts exactly. I was a documentary on how the cobblers make the ballet shoes. They put so much time, energy, and passion into each pair… only to have them demolished. I’m glad the ballerinas are doing what they need to do for their feet, ankles, etc. but I can’t help but gasp for the cobblers. 🥴

@@spicyritas4795 yes I’m definitely the same haha 😂 I watched a girl at my old studio pull a brand new pair of pointe shoes from a bag (absolutely stunning), then watched her completely cut apart and screw them up, and smack them against a concrete wall for ten minutes. She then proceeded to say “now, they’re perfect!” And my heart hurt for the shoes 😂

@@Maramae37it is sad that they have to rip them up, but that's just what they have to do so that they can be danced in.

Because everyone does their pointe shoes differently so the makers just leave it as is so that the ballet dancers are free to customize them hoever they choose

But why. Why don't they come pre broke in? Like why make the dancer work so much more, legit questions

Ma perché non le vendono già modificate?
@Elk-327413 күн бұрын
Because no dancer has the same feet so some feet are more flexible and some are more stiff. Also it depends on how advanced you are if your a beginner en pointe your suggested to not break them in but if your a professional then you break them in like the video but each dancer has their own needs for the pointe shoes so that’s why there not made like that.
@emilyxroblox896Ай бұрын
I’m confused why do u do this?
@Ella_ur_pookie_yaurrr28 күн бұрын
Ballet dancers break in their pointe shoes because they're originally very stiff and inflexible, which means that the dancers aren't getting the needed support.
@Cherokee51774Ай бұрын
Pointe shoes are too much work for the expense.
@juliahester1945Ай бұрын
Wow! To a non-baller dancer it looks like you are destroying a $100 pair of shoes. Ouch!! Lol
@Ella_ur_pookie_yaurrr28 күн бұрын
It definitely does look like that, but that's what they have to do to make them proper for dancing in. If they didn't do all this to the pointe shoe, it will be very stiff and inflexible, not giving them the support they need and increasing risk of injury.

So you have 187 million views. Big whip I’ve known ballerinas for years and years and years and years and years They didn’t have the luxury of the worldwide web Internet and skanky social media And by the way: dancers can dance regardless of the genre they can dance without music But if you bring the music in that’s when it sells that’s when it’s good and that’s when it’s beautiful . So you actually need musicians Don’t deny it
