Im a theater person, and once we had a ballerina playing Cinderella. We couldn’t get her to run across the stage normally, she always ran like a ballerina. It was so funny. She tried so hard, but she couldn’t do it! 😅❤

@@niagara6015 The exception confirms the rule. But anyways, it's just a joke everyone in dance class makes. When our teacher says we have to run to our next spot, suddenly we want to run elegantly but that looks hideous. It's very funny.

@@niagara6015 To be fair, I think it's like a subconsious locomotion thing You dance and run very little, muscle memory kicks in and for some people, they'd rather dance than run, it's because your muscles are trained like that. I remember when I was a kid, I find skipping a lot more easier because I skipped a lot, but when I skipped less, I find it easier to run.

As someone who has chronic knee problems watching people essential wreck their legs by going "en pointe" or fall and hit their knees like that person wearing "croc pointe shoes" it REALLY bugs my knee. I really hope everyone who reads this is being safe! Whether that be in ballet or through the very dangerous winter some of us may be experiencing.

Emotional running!! Yes!!! That reminds me of one day in my modern class in college where we ran for about half the class because "running like a 'normal person' gets beat out of you in dance classes, and I want y'all to look 'normal' when you run." She said we'd move on from running once we looked like "normal people." We kiiinda looked normal after a while, but I'm pretty sure the real reason we moved on was because she gave up. 😆

As someone who's had four fractures in her feet, all on separate occasions, the past like 6 years... (I am still recovering from the last one about three months ago.) I wish i could do... well ANYTHING these dancers can.

I'm in the same boat: weak ankles and a collapsed arch, which is just something everyone in my family has. I probably will never go on pointe even if I started training for that at a young age, but I do folk dance instead, which is based on ballet in the culture I'm doing it from, and I love it

There might be adult beginner classes you could try! I have some near me, and often they'll let older teens join too if you ask. You also might be able to find a mixed-level teen class, but those are harder to find. Lots of colleges also have beginner classes, if you end up at a college! And I always suggest Kathryn Morgan's KZbin classes if you want something to do at home. Sorry if this is a lot, but I get very excited about people wanting to try ballet at a nontraditional age, and always want to encourage as much as possible!!
