Some professional or highly competitive dancers wear shoes too small for major competetitions or performances, but I don't think (at least I hope not) they wear the wrong size on a regular basis.

The shoe helps significantly. That's part of why it's so important to get professionally fitted in real pointe shoes (aka nothing off Amazon or Wish). The way the shoe is built allows you to go up on your toes without damage or excessive pain (assuming you've been properly trained). There's also padding and spacers that many dancers use to help get the support they need.

Sometimes it can work but also when you find a brand that just works really well for you going outside of that can be difficult. Each shoe brand is a little different so going outside your normal can be difficult

No, not until you have a ballet teacher with experience teaching pointe who can approve you. If you don't have the necessary strength to safely do pointe you can permanently damage your feet.

No! If you have experience, great .. . But it might give you a false sense of confidence. Yes, you can damage your feet, but the real problem is ankle issues. Trying en pointe before you are ready strength wise can destroy tendons and ligaments, just by not getting fully up on the box

I have a question for any ballerina out there! How dangerous would it be for someone with no training to wear pointe shoes for a cosplay? I would only be going on point for pictures and be walking around flat the rest of the time. How likely would I be to hurt myself?

Very, VERY likely, it takes minimum 3 years of ballet training to go on pointe. You’ll likely break an ankle. Just get ballet flats.
