Cool future Canadian content request I just thought of: Tricky Woo. Their song "Fly The Orient". Their album "Sometimes I Cry" from 1999 is one of the best Canadian rock'n'roll albums of all time and very underappreciated. Like a revved-up cross between Hendrix and MC5. Should've been massive. Cheers!

The first version has a keyboard tone that reminded me of an Elvis Costello song. It's not a bad song, but as you said, sounded a bit like I Want To Be Sedated at the start.

This was okay, one of their best so far.

There's actually an even earlier version that was recorded in '78 with more emphasis on guitar (and the keys lower in the mix). Of these two in the video, i love the first most, but THIS version is the best imo! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3PQfqp4eKiYgpY

I like the second version a lot more than the first version, sounds like a lot of tracks from around the late 70's early 80's to me. Not too bad.

@iankearns774 Good ear!!! Here's the background info for the recording history of "Out of Luck" Here's the 1st version that was recorded in April/May 1979 and released as the B-Side of their "The Real Thing" 7" put out by the local Quintessence label. This is THAT version buuuuut, the upload is from a much more recent compilation of their early output that was released to allow their fans to acquire the early material without paying the ever-increasing prices for the original 7" and the one LP from their original era I've got all of the original vinyl purchased back when released when I was 14-16 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aprRmXt8bdeLrqc If you hit up their Discogs page you can see the original artwork and laves/inserts 2. The first version you played was from their rather disheartening sessions for the British label STIFF RECORDS that the label pretty much insisted they have produced by Brinsley Schwartz who messed with their established relationship with Bob Rock as their producer/engineer and, their established routines and, as you mentioned, their SOUND The band recorded enough songs for an entire album as agreed upon with extra songs for non-album b-sides, etc...but, they were extremely disappointed with the entire endeavor which concluded with Stiff only releasing one 7" and, only in the UK. Decades later, the band released ALL of the songs recorded at that time on a compilation CD without Stiff meddling. The original 7" version that you played released only in the UK came out in very late 1979 3. The 2nd version you played was from the sessions they recorded once back in Vancouver when they reconvene with Bob Rock to record tracks on their own terms which Quintessence released as the LP in the first quarter of 1980 Cheers

Good Psychological lesson for the young ones about the girl they are singing about. Not a bad song, but the first version I feel was too rushed and should have had time taken on it the same as the second version.

It’s ok , it’s of its time , I’m not a fan of the ‘boardwalk wurlitzer’ style keyboards though 🤷♂️ 👍🏴
