What I love about them is how truly organic they were. They weren't pretty by Hollywood standards but, to me, they were just naturally beautiful souls, in spirit and person. They didn't bleach their skin, or do crazy plastic surgeries, or wear over the top wigs and makeups; and they never resorted to sleaze. They didn't need to. They had the gift. These ladies could SING! They were the best of the 70s girl groups, and that's why they outlasted and became immensely more successful than all the rest. All of their albums were pure excellence.

The author of Lady was Lionel Richie....a song that he presented to the Commodores to record...they rejected it...then Kenny Rogers recorded it.... .the rest is history...

Between Feb 1979 to Jul 1990 the Pointer Sister had 14 UK Chart Singles with their lowest Number 97 - Friends Advice (Don't Take It) to their highest Number 2 - Automatic. This one (Slow Hand) peaked at Number 10 in August 1981. I thought it would have got a bit higher in the charts, I always liked it, still do. Back on Monday, June 22, 1981, 96 WHNN in Saginaw, Michigan went from a hard rockin' station to a soft rock Adult Contemporary FM radio station & "Slowhand" was the first time I heard that song played!!! Kenny Rogers "I Don't Need You" as well with the duet with Dottie West "What Are We Doin' In Love", The Carpenters "Touch Me When We're Dancing", Ronnie Milsap "There's No Gettin' Over Me", Air Supply "The One That You Love", Herb Alpert "Magic Man", Juice Newton "Queen Of Hearts", Champaign "How 'Bout Us" among others played until October of 1990 when it became an "Oldies" station.

By the time "Slow Hand" peaked around September 5, 1981, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, Juice Newton were still in the top ten. Along with Eddie Rabbitt "Step by Step" and Alabama "Feels So Right". Even the #1 song, "Endless Love", the Commodores' "Oh No", the Carpenters and Pointer Sisters hits all had an Urban Cowboy sound to them.
