Great interview Andre and Evan, and nice to get to know Ty better, he has helped us win games while some of the big guns are recovering from injury... From where i'm sitting, Golden State fans have gotten to enjoy the greatest collection of winners in the 21st century, not just in the NBA, but in all of the sporting world. The way the conversation turned around the tanking at OKC and Philly was really interesting from the perspective of a championship program, you hear all about tanking as a fan, but you don't really know what that does to a player's head space and how they play the game. Digging into the little things that separate those championship programs from the tanking teams makes this episode well worth the listen. Keep up the good work.

I've only seen a couple of interviews with Ty that were longer than 3 or 4 minutes (one in a post game presser, and once in the NBC Sports postgame show). After the presser I thought, "Wow, he's articulate, and pragmatic." Seeing this interview, confirms my positive impressions. Ty's a good choice for your first latte? creamy? guest. I thought he was maybe part Middle Eastern. Wrong! It's always interesting to hear how players got to where they are. Thanks!

You know it interests me I hear so many stories like his in highschool where it's like, "Yeah I was on JV, barely played any minutes, etc. etc." to all of a sudden there in the NBA? Imagine being the best player at his school on varsity and you're getting your little juco scholarship then all of a sudden that kid who couldn't make the team is in the NBA taking Steph Curry's spot. What in the actual hell. This world is crazy, I mean this stuff is literally first-hand evidence that a ton of ppl if not most ppl who make it big in this world really came from nothing as far as their skill and talent and exposure. Of course we see those few legends who are clearly monsters off the bat. But most successful ppl do not show the level of success they're capable of like that until they get that one opportunity. Now for all we know this guy can be a great roleplayer at worst and at his best a starter for a winning team.

That competitive mentality is a lot like being in peak shape... you take too long of a break from it and it takes twice as long to get it back... eventually you can get so out of shape there ain't get back. And that segment @36:36 is some great stuff - do not talk down on those NBA role players... their overall game is usually a lot more than that little niche they are allowed in the league.. the number of potentially great talents that are never developed is huge.

Gents, the Education Degree isn't necessarily just for you. It's for all the young men from your communities that idolizes you all. You guys represent more than just yourselves. Unfortunately, 99.9% of the young boys that idolizes you all won't grow up to be NBA players and capable of making millions. A degree is important... while it doesn't guarantee a great income, it can make them competitive in their industry of choice. It could be the difference in getting that well-paying job. So, do yourself and your community a favor and go get that degree.

It's not what you learn in college, it's the ability to be able to think as a method of solving things. Usually, people who don't have much college don't understand how to do this. Of course, college can't be just a propaganda machine. In addition, if you've had a lot of college(i.e. more units than a degree requires), but no degree, you have to be able to push that fact, because it actually puts you ahead of most college graduates when it comes to thinking. Ty needs more college.

Degrees don’t matter. Skills you gain from getting a degree matter but you can get those skills in other ways. If i was in the US, i definitely wouldn’t get a degree due to the massive costs. I have many friends that were gym owners and became full stack software developers. IT companies are dropping degree requirements.

In many fields, not having a degree means not having any chance of getting in the door. NBA players and other pros can make hypothetical statements about it...because they can afford to...they made it. I think it's poor advice for the other 99 % of players who did not make it, because their cachet as one-time pro hopeful means nothing in the employment market if they want any kind of a desirable job. Personally I hope Ty does go on to finish his degree (night classes) after leaving the game, because it will deepen his capacities for carrying through to the next stages of his life after his BB career is over.
