Hi... Why would the rubbing block keep melting away. Even new ones melt away on the new points...

Replace the contact breakers every 6000 miles? Yeah maybe if you remove the condenser. They should last 10's of thousands of miles.

If you have to replace your points every 6000 miles, something is wrong.

Exactly, my points on my 1969 Buick 430ci go 20K miles at least. I have still not wore them out. Just clean the points when needed and set dwell to spec. They go on forever on a daily driver.

@@matthewtarka2804 exactly. I searched and bought a few NOS AC Delco Remy's from eBay couple years ago just to have good spare points/condenser
