That actually makes total sense. If your body is in piss poor condition, and you were controlled by a symbiote, it's primary goal would be to keep its host healthy to keep itself alive. So having a good diet, exercising and keeping a clean house would keep the host in good shape, therefore keeping the symbiote living well

I always felt Marvel should have followed David Michelinie's original pitch and have Venom be a woman. She-Venom probably wouldn't have been insanely popular like Eddie Brock had in the '90s but that meant that the character would have stayed a villain instead of bouncing between anti-hero and vigilante. Plus sexy monster girl would have been an awkward first boner for a lot of teenage boys.

You could argue the symbiote is female. Obsession towards a man due to a nasty break up (Peter), violent mood swings, loves chocolate (in the 90s comic Venom consumed chocolate because there was a need for certain chemicals in the brain he/she needed that is also found in the candy), hell, the Symbiote expressed sadness at being separated from Eddie like a wife might from her husband. Venom could certainly be a female with a troubled history with men.
