I really loved the ep ‘Balance of Power’. It challenged Max’s idolisation of his father when Ash defeats him for the Balance Badge & made him realise that he can’t put him on the pedestal he imagined any longer since he saw that his father was capable of losing like any other trainer.

Max sure did have a rough introduction, but after that first episode, he’s definitely one of the most underrated companions of the entire series in my opinion. Look at Do I Hear a Ralts for instance, that’s the greatest highlight of this character, and I hope you enjoy it too when you get to it. Edit: I also think Gonna Rule the School is a pretty chill filler episode, it’s alright, but not the best. I do agree with the missed opportunity thing, and also Ash doesn’t get to battle Team Rocket while everyone damn else does, but I do think this was when Max first learned to battle and that knowledge was later briefly utilized in A Six Pack Attack and the earlier mentioned Do I Hear a Ralts.

It’s also focusing with other stuff about being Pokémon trainer especially focusing on Pokémon contest my thoughts I saw it in Japanese but I felt like it could be 140 episodes

My favourite Chronicles episode was Training Daze, but I think that came out after this season. It's about Team Rocket and training. Apparently Jessie kept ditching her partners until they introduced her to James. Their bond is really good in it. We're No Angels was cute, though. I liked May. Mainly because she didn't like Pokemon and just wanted to travel at first. I kind of wish that she didn't have to adore Pokemon after meeting Torchic, but I guess that would mean she couldn't be in the series.

Pokemon ruby and Sapphire was definitely the weakest Pokemon series
