I imagine the huge amount of rebalancing and ability combinations and interactions make it hard to approach for a lot of players, especially since the hack is focused almost entirely on competitive battling and skipping a lot of the other aspects of pokemon. All the features of 2.0 though really has streamlined it so I think it could really take off sometime

It doesn't go under the radar though, the problem is the main focus of the hack is competitive battling. There is nothing appealing beside that, most peoples play rom hacks for the story and unique new features that only rom hacks can bring in. Focus on battling and making the game harder will alienate the casual players while the hardcore players that enjoy those hack only represent like 1-10% of the fan base.

i completed my nuzlocke of this game back in may, just started trying it deathless, some tips for anyone struggling with early game hell snivy carries the entire early game sweeping route 102 except rick, petalburg aqua grunt, route 104 pre woods except furret trainer, route 109 and roxanne and plays a large supporting role in other battles (plus sweeps alot of evil teams later game) vivilion has a 50% chance on route 102 if you use honey and pre gym one is used to pick up fights servine can't sweep the 104 double battle can be skipped if you walk past it with only one pokemon, if that pokemon is vivilion it can sweep the forced trainer right after with specs, air blower, modest air slash roxanne's trainers and roxanne herself can be swept with servine, make sure to use scarf for upper left hiker and eviolite for the rest for roxanne set a entry hazard, switch into servine and click leafstorm, giga draining on the tirtouga for rusturf tunnel aqua grunt is pretty luck dependent so my only tip is make sure you remove the fog for steven use the free galarian linoone to use thunder wave then parting shot into either scraggy or gyarados built for max special bulk with rest and roost respectivly, dragon dance to + 6 then sweep for 109 skip as many trainers as possible until after brawley, i tend to stick as far right as possible when walking up the route, once you talk to brawley fly back to avoid any trainers (after brawley i would reccomend defeating all the trainers as you get yamask is good against watson) for brawley use honedge (refer to mega fidough's video on that) from that you will have all your abilities and will be out of early game hell

I don't really see the appeal in a rom hack that basically makes every Pokémon extremely overpowered but to each their own I guess lol

It's one thing to buff weaker Pokemon to put them more in line with other Pokemon, but giving EVERYTHING tons of huge buffs, not just the weaker Pokemon, simply moves the goal posts around without actually achieving any balance. Sure you could argue that the shitty Pokemon are now "less" shitty on paper, but when everything else that was already good is now even better, it's essentially the exact same issue.
