I did this mod and it is working perfectly. I did a couple of things differently, (and I'm basing this on your first mod video). I just cut a slit in the screen material over the speaker hole, rather than remove it and I did not use hot glue. I packed in enough extra tack to anchor the switch in place. Good stuff. Used this schematic for two of them for friends. Used 30ga stranded, flipped the speaker upside down, electric tape on its back (now facing up) this supports the bottom of the switch, used the switch type with two ears, cut the near charging port ear off, hot glue on the other one. Thank you for this! I just did the mod to my catcher. It was super easy but I took my time to ensure I did it right. The switches I used were 8.5mm x 4mm x 4mm with a throw switch length of 4mm. It fits perfectly. The only place I could find to buy these at a reasonable rate on ebay, 100 of them for £8.75 ! I have 99 left! In terms of glue I used B8000 glue. Seems to hold ok and easy to remove if I ever need to get back in there.

Great tutotial. Did a little investigating. The button is active low. A bit of a more elegant solution is to use a common collector transistor and tie the input to the red wire (instead of black). That way the black motor signal and the button are not "fighting" each other. Anyways, what you have seems to work but just presenting another possible solution.

@techstuff7988 it's a bit hard to understand without a schematic on what happens with the original design because you are tying the negative of the motor driver to the button. So is the motor driver ok being driven to ground when the button is pressed? Could the negative motor pin tied to the button eventually cause it to always be actuated? With the CC transistor you don’t have these issues. Anyways, it does seem to be working for a bunch of people so maybe it's ok? Just presenting another option.

Some Beginner Advice as I spended 15 hours on it without all the good tools. What you need: Souder wire and if possible flux. Wires that are smaller than 20 gauge. At least 30 cm in length. If possible not the same color. Some pvc or rubber that shortens when hot. Some good tools for the screws and also something to hold or pinch. Time and energy. Something to strip the cable ( i used a cutter). For the advices, be careful not to disconnect the usbc port to the motherboard (the cable) because i think you cannot load the battery anymore if you do it. FIRST THING: disconnect the battery. Be gentle with the cables because you can rip it

for all the dudes asking: U NEED A MINI 3PIN 2WAY SWITCH! (2-3euro) my go plus worked fine with this mod UNTIL i enabled the sound for the go plus ingame in the options! i couldnt connect it with my phone anymore ( my speaker... which i put under the board came in contact with something from the board) i changed the position a tiny bit and it works perfekt...SO WATCH OUT IF U ENABLE SOUND AND IT DOESNT WORK ANYMORE!

Thank you, very good tutorial. I definately used slightly too thick cables, it was a real hassle trying to fix everything back together. I also had t o drill out a slightly bigger hole/indent for the switch so the button sticked out a bit more. Hopefully it does not break upon use, my soldering is not as slick as a pro :)

I also encountered the issue you brought up in your previous video: in silent mode, the Go Plus + attempts to go into sleep mode almost every time it is disconnected from the game. The only way to get out of this situation is to switch to normal mode, or connect it to the game and press the white button. In silent mode when it's not doing that Pikachu loop, if I press the top button to check the battery status, that also triggers it to go into sleep mode.

I want to know too! I wish to try connecting a single wire directly to the positive terminal of the vibration battery and then to the button point. However, I haven't seen anyone do this successfully. So Im afraid to try :(

It will kill the vibration but everything else will work fine. You don’t have to add a switch like this if you don’t want the vibration at all anymore

It doesnt work for me. I just did the same and I have two modes, one with vibration and one without but the one suppose to be without doesnt throw ultraballs or superballs. I did the same as you. Tried to reboot sometimes

Help, I just got this device about a week ago, I just did this mod, in both instances the Pokemon stays on the iPhone screen. Switch down the motor vibration does work,, I hit the button it flashes red 3 times and never throws the ball, the Pokemon stays on the screen, in auto catch mode it doesn't vibrate, it turns green then turns red and nothing happens, what did I do? this no longer catches anything HELP

you can just clip off one wire or desolder. there is no reason to remove leftovers unless you use flux. then make sure to clean that off.

quick one how would this work if you took the vibration completely out would you just do a straight wire from board to board ?

It will autocatch for you but you won't be able to ever not auto catch. Sometimes the device gets stuck in a loop like this, especially when disconnecting at the 1hr mark. You should be able to soft reset it by holding the button for 3 seconds and then reconnecting.

Have you noticed any impact on battery life after this mod? I did your mod and what I've noticed is a few minutes after fully charging the Go Plus +, the battery status LED is yellow instead of green when I press the top button. This happens with the switch in normal mode as well as silent mode. The Go Plus + is not connected to the game during the few minutes (less than 5 minutes).

I bought another brand new Go Plus + just to check the battery life of an unmodded device. Charged it to full and with about 10 minutes, the LED changed from green to yellow. That Go Plus + has not even been paired to any phone. So I guess I can confirm your mod does not have any negative impact on battery life.

Can someone suggest a method of testing if it is charging? Mine stopped working (no lights, not even charging lights). Need to diagnose where the problem could be.

Use a multimeter to test each point you soldered. Something may have broken or not be connected. Make sure the ribbon cable from the USB-C plug is okay and plugged into the main board.

idk if you noticed when you soldered the cable to the button their were two little thingys very close and tiny i forgot what they were called but if you accidentally solder them together it will mess around with the leds and the way that the go plus will work try checking

What do you mean? If you used the middle position of the switch for something then it would be used for whatever you chose. How would we know ahead of time what the middle position would be for? If you don't want vibrate simply don't reconnect the vibration wires as he has done in the wiring diagram.

no, it will go into sleepmode loop after you stop playing... it simulates the press of the button non stop so no it wont work

Anyone notice its more buggy after doing the mod? Not catching as quickly and will have spurts where it just does nothing for a while even with pokemon or stops in range? My gf has been complaining about this after I modded it for her. I confirmed it does work and indeed does throw all 3 types of balls as well as regular red balls like it would normally with the switch in the off position as well as go into sleep mode still. This was on a newer plus + purchased about 2 months ago if that makes any difference.
