Nostalgia, but also The 3DS screen had a super low resolution, but also, it was miniscule, so we don't really perceive the big chunky pixels, we just see the general clean shapes

The fact anyone plays on original hardware for Nintendo games is wild to me. They constantly gimp really good games by cheaping out on hardware and treating their fans like shit. It's literally at a point now where even with the switch, 90% of games actually run better on an emulator than on the actual hardware it was designed for. I dont advocate piracy, but I do definitely wish nintendo stopped trying to fight emulation, especially when they'll never win, you take down one emulator, other devs will just pick up where the last guys left off. Yuzu and citra already have new forks in active development most likely, once things chill out with the lawsuit being so recent i can nearly garuntee you'll see it happen.

Crazy how these games look better than the ones on switch. Imo resolution is the biggest problem with 3DS games, at higher resolutions even the relatively low poly models still look pretty great. Edit: its unfortunate the 3DS especially new 3DS never had the same opportunities to show how powerful it was as the Switch. There was a whole Xenoblade port on the New 3DS, a game that was considered impressive for home consoles the previous generation.
