Am I the only one who sees Alolan Ninetails as a little tribute to the legendary Ninetails from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue? It was considered an extremely rare, legend of a pokemon in nature that also appears in a frozen wasteland and Alolan Ninetails is Ice/Fairy with Fairy possibly referencing the fact it was considered to be only a folk story to the many Pokemon in PMD Red/Blue like a Fairy story or one of Elves would be.

HerculesMays I’ve always like it, and when I was younger I liked it more than Arcanine. The mystery dungeon manga and first mystery dungeon game really made me like the Pokémon even more. A lot of people speculated before the mystery dungeon game came out from its Pokédex entries that it should have been psychic or ghost with the fire type due to it saying that it had mystic/supernatural powers, could put people under a 1000 year curse, and live up to 1000 years itself, and like you said it being inspired by the Kitsune folklore. There was also an episode in the anime that was dedicated to a ninetales that lived for centuries and gained psychic like powers. So I do think that gamefreak giving ninetales a fairy regional variant definitely makes a tribute to all that gamefreak has shown Ninetales to be.

This... this is my favorite oversold theme in Sun/Moon. It just has that climactic undertone that gets you pumped up, while also having that "cold mountain" feel. I'm sure it also has to do with the fact that I love Ice-types and I spent a ton of time grinding on this mountain.
