To be fair I wasn't actually suggesting my way I was just stating an arbitrary alternative to EVs because they are convoluted

Why pokemon fans are so attached to EVs because they are genuinely a bad system and there could be so many better ways that would make pokemon a much more streamlined experience

I think EV's are fine enough but even I feel like they need to pool EV's in a way that lets you undo them and put them back into other stats. If you could change what EV's were applied at any time I think that would fix the problem and open the door to the games being harder. It's IV's that are the bigger problem. Breeding and Bottle Caps can get you an easy 31 IV so for the most part I think capping a normal set is not hard. The problem is weird BS like that guy that used a 28 HP IV on a Great Tusk. Or when a 0 IV is needed. Or maybe another weird low IV. Getting a 0 can also not be so bad but the moment you need a weird IV is the moment I kind of eye roll. So to sum up my rambling EV's only really need to be something you can reassign as much as you want. And in a perfect world they would let you also just edit an IV up or down. But for the most part you only need a 31 IV so all that is left that makes the IV system dumb is when you need a low IV because that can add hours to get what you need. But if you ignore a few weird team types that is less of a problem. Other than the maybe getting that 0 Attack IV on a Special Attack user. But in breeding a 0 can pass if you had it or any weird IV. The problem is then stuff you can't breed for. That is where I will stop defending this mess. The few scattershot things you can't breed if you need a weird IV that is not a 31 you reset for hours or end up cheating.
