It also shows just how desperate he is to find a way to heal his best friend, literally *nothing* else that he has tried has worked, so the Herba Mystica is the absolute last hope he has of seeing his best friend finally recover....and if even that had failed, he likely would have resigned himself to saying "goodbye" to Mabosstiff. And honestly, for dog-lovers in particular it probably hits even harder. Myself included, since it reminded me of when we had to say goodbye to our Boxer/Lab mix 5 years ago, I wanted desperately to do *something* to keep her with us longer, but I knew that there was nothing that we *could* do, as she was suffering from Lymphoma, so keeping her around would have been cruel and selfish....and as hard as it was to do, I knew it was time to say goodbye to her so that her pain and suffering would end. But what sticks with me the most from that day is that I would swear that after we got home from having her put to sleep, I saw her out of the corner of my eye resting her head on the arm of the couch looking at me, as though she herself was saying goodbye. I can only hope that when my own time comes, she will be there waiting for me.

I am not a dog person. But I am a sentimental person, and god if Arven doesn't hit me in the feels every time. I've lost count of how many times I've cried during the game. Like, real tears. All of them had to deal with Arven, but considering I have multiple save files, and I cry when I tell my family about Mabostiff. It's just such a good storyline that gets me every time. Arven is my favorite character in the whole game.

Story was for sure the best so far since gen 5. I cried when he fell over from excitement that mabostiff got better. I cried even more when he went "you ruined my life (legendary) but you're the only one who can fight that" and god, just getting to the AI professor and "well his parents dead" after all that backstory I was a part of the "why this guy want a sammich" gang until we saw the second titan cutscene, which shows GF CAN still tell good stories. finizen is great too, once it evolves it has an ability which transforms it once you switch it out of battle. The base stats go from something like 470 all the way to 650. Almost mewtwo levels of broken, and you can catch it really early on.
