Can I beat Pokémon Y with only Dragon Type Pokémon using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules? I mean...yeah, they're Dragons...but watch anyways!
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Dragon Type Pokémon on each route.
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Honestly, the one pokemon per route rule is usually unnescessary in monotype challenges if you're restricted to one per evolution line anyway so I wouldn't worry about the horsea.

While it technically doesn't impact anything meaningful, it would kind of take away the one rule that defines the second part of doing a "monolocke".

@@paulelderson934 I disagree, the point of the second rule is to give you a limited number of encounters and to encourage using different Pokémons than in a normal run. I think that allowing all Pokémon of a type in a lot of runs is the better way of doing it for monotypes.
@G1nger519

@@Jacob-nh9yv yes, for a monotype run, fro a monolocke, or monotype-nuzlocke if you will, you generally have to abide by 1 pokemon per route, very common exceptions are the forest in BW because the encounters are so vastly different and are locked behind story events.

They are probably the best games in terms of actual aesthetic, chock full of great features (megas, wonder trade, fairy type and so much more), and added so much in terms of quality of life features for both the casual and tryhard fans. Its such a shame that the story is garbage and the game is shockingly easy throughout, especially coming off the back of Gen 5.

@@Averagejon95 YES. The AI is almost Gen 1 levels of terrible, opponents frequently have suboptimal movesets including numerous instances of not having all of their moveslots filled, Gyms have no more than three mons and the E4 just four, certain gift mons such as Korrina's Lucario are just absolutely bonkers, and the debut of experience sharing while scaled XP takes a generation off results in you being almost comically overprepared for already-easier fights. Yeah. It's that easy.

Honestly, I don't care if a challenge is particularly difficult or particularly easy. I watch because I enjoy your style - the narration, the playthrough, all of it. I've literally never gotten into Nuzlocke challenges before, and I still don't really watch anyone else's Nuzlocke videos unless it's someone who I already like. At the end of the day, it's supposed to be fun, and as the one actually playing the game and making the videos, I feel like you having fun is the most important thing. I've enjoyed every single one of your videos both here and on the highlights channel, and I'm looking forward to anything you do moving forward!

I love watching your nuzlocke videos. They are creative and really entertaining! I don't really have a preference when it comes to the difficulty. I'd like to recommend two ideas: The "good boy" nuzlocke, where you can only use pokemon that resemble a dog and the "crazy cat lady" nuzlocke, where it's the same but with cats. Idk how challenging they would be, but they sounded funny in my head!

I’ve been watching these videos for probably a couple of weeks now, and I always ask myself. Why do I like this guy so much and I finally realize it is humor is exactly the same as oversimplify another KZbinr I love to watch. I’m so glad I found this channel and I love the humor.!🎉

thank god for people such as yourself finally making the hypocrisy of the buttons clear. not many poketubers have had the gall to challenge the button establishment but you’re pushing the boundaries. A real voice of the people. Keep up the great work flygonHG, one day the scale will tip and we’ll get a myriad of colorful buttons to replace the old system.

Loved the video. If I may I’d like to pitch a future challenge run: an N-Locke In addition to normal nuzlocke rules you have release or permanently box all your Pokémon after each gym battle. You may keep one Pokémon after a gym battle but cannot keep the same Pokémon two gyms in a row. Example: you choose to keep your starter after the first gym, after the second gym you have to release or permanently box your starter.

This kinda defeats the point of a regular Nuzlocke, as deaths in a gym battle would end up being irrelevant, leading to extremely sac-heavy gameplay.

Every Kalos playthrough makes me so happy!!! It was my first game ever and I play randomizers of it all the time now (but not nuzlockes bc I am emotionally frail about my Creatures) and seeing my favorite pokemon KZbinr play it more is the best thing to happen for me on this platform.

He said a while ago that it mostly doesn't matter. He rarely uses more pokemon than the gym leader has anyway. It does add to the challenge of trying to figure out viable strats, since you're eliminating options.

Correction that a lot of people miss, the nuzlocke encounters are usually only counted with one static and one wild if they're the same place. For example you'd be able to get Groudon and Golbat in the cave of origin in Omega Ruby

Really enjoyed this video, we don’t see to many Mono Dragon nuzlockes. To comment on what you said at the end, I typically prefer your harder challenges where there is more suspense for tougher fights and we get to see you craft quirky strategies to get out of difficult situations. That being said, I really enjoy your fun and creative storytelling and side tangents in some easier challenges. Despite hardcore nuzlockes growing in popularity, you have a unique style to your videos that I really enjoy. I like seeing harder challenges where you struggle more (not in a masochistic way I swear) but I totally get why you need to rotate the difficulty in challenges. Keep being you Matti, love your videos every week :)
