Keychron has had force break mod on all their aluminum keyboards since at least 2022. They even re-released the Q1 (version 2) with a forcebreak mod because of the pinginess of their Q1 design. People overtighten the screws and compress the silicone force break to where the aluminum still comes in direct contact. If you have a keychron board and think it's pingy, try loosening the screws 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
@ImOnMy1166 ай бұрын
I’ll also say I actually believe it was Scott from Keybored (a keyboard content creator) who invented (or was at least the first to show it) the force break mod specifically to help with case resonance back when the Keychron Q1 came out years ago! keychron got that feedback presumably more or less at the inception of their aluminum two piece boards.

Very important to point out that Keychron recently added encryption to their 2.4 GHz connections via a firmware update for the dongle. I've been keyboard hunting for 5 weeks now and i've learned a few things. The hobby is a huge disappointment and pain in the rear. When you think you found your keyboard you find out its been sold out for months maybe even years. The used market is still bad because those keyboards you found are now going for double the price. Also, if you do find one in stock that ticks all the boxes the board is severely overpriced at $300-500+ its absolutely crazy. So instead of getting a nice unique board i'll end up with another keychron because theyr're in stock and have a volume knob. I wanted a zoom75 but because of how its sold its never in stock for more than a few days if that lol. I very much want an in depth review on the magnetic keyboards. There are others, but please start with Keychron QX HE series. (I am partial to a TKL and a Q0 keypad combination, but I think I'd get the point of a review with a 75% or whatever.) The rest of my comment is about the Lemokey L3 which I own and I am pretty happy with. Before that KB, I mained a Keychron K8 which I modded/customized, but was never really happy with. I have a Lemokey L3. That is a TKL, knob KB, with 2.4GHz, BT support for up to 3 devices. I have the Keychron Red switches ... which are "fine." I wish they were quieter, I want silence in fact, but you know ... real life. It's a pretty good KB. Aside from replacing keycaps and adding O-rings to make up for my own heavy handedness ... it's stock. Yes it has a force break, but I have not needed to open it so I can't confirm what the force break is made from. I can confirm it is ping free. Also it weighs a LOT. Much more than my MacBook Pro 16". Seriously it feels like 4Kg. (8.8lbs for my fellow Americans) I got an early version ... and the wireless features were problematic for a while - wouldn't connect or would randomly disconnect. After a couple of firmware updates it settled down and became reliable and "driverless." I can recommend it now. I don't like the keycap sets it had available... I don't understand the obsession with RGB backlighting paired with SOLID no shine through keycaps. Sorry - I think shine through keycaps need to be the default ... I can turn off the backlight if I don't want to see the legends. I ended up getting side facing keycaps ... a similar set are now an option on the LemoKey site. Mine were a set I got from Amazon, and I repurposed some extra keys I had from a spare set of the K8 stock keycaps for the MacOS function keys. These are still not "end-game" keycaps, but they are shine-through, and they have an unusual look that makes them worthwhile and eye catching.

Obligatory please give your thoughts on the Ajazz AK820 pro comment. Seriously it's a $50 board made of plastic that could almost pass for aluminum with how thick and heavy it is. It's even got flippy feet, a LCD screen, and knob??? The software is also nominally... good? Sure VIA support would have been better, but most of this works well enough (not the options to change the LCD screen, that's a mess). But it's the sound that comes off this thing that blows me away. I'm using your coffee keycaps with HMX Poro Linear Switches from Kinetic Labs with this board and the sound coming from this is pure heaven.

Any Gateron or Nuphy low profile 2.0 switches should work (I've changed the larger keys to Gateron low profile bananas for some extra feedback compared to the browns on my K3 Max), for keycaps most work as long as the attacking stem is at the same level as the key's skirt - otherwise the skirt will start hitting the keyboard plate. Womier and XVX have pretty good low profile options if you don't need non-UK ISO. If you want low profile non-UK ISO keycaps, you're pretty much out of luck.

Because I’m completely new and just upgraded from a bland 10€ logitech keyboard and I come from a country where I need both German AND french layout typings. That means I need swiss keycap layout out of the box, and for that layout, this was the ONLY one that offered this setup. I was about to pull the trigger on the womier sk75. But that would have been 120€, with a barely functional layout to me. Adding the keycaps would have cost at least 60+ around 10-20€ shipping. I wonder did they took the SKN Bluebird 75 and turned it into Lemokey P1. Everything from the antenna position, USB plug and the shape of the knob is the same.

This might have been due to recent political changes for the US &/or simply because of holiday sales, but Lemokey is actually more expensive now, rivaling the Keychron Q Max line; for example, Q3 Max is currently $181.90 & the L4 is 192.60 w/ holiday pricing & both are listed for $214 before the holiday “discounts”. Edit: Looks like the key differences right now glancing at the two listings is: - L4 | Q3 Max - BT5.2 | BT5.1 - MX non-shine caps | KSA shine caps - Keychron Super switches | Gateron Jupiter switches

do a vid on the epo maker 75, if you have, sorry! I personally think it is brilliant for the price. One of the best perhaps.

great video, and I enjoy watching your stuff since I'm new to the hobby. I have tested a LOT of switches lately to start seeing what I like. Keychron, Cherry, HTX, etc. I actually really like the Gat banana switches. Gives me the tactile bump I like with enough click to smile. But not enough click to make my wife or clients gets made at me haha. Granted there are some others Ive kind of liked, but at double the price. Which isn't enough to want to use them. Its all preference, just thought I'd share since it seems like you dont like any of the keychron switches haha. One side note I couldnt figure out though, was what the difference in those super banana switches and the ones Gat banana switches? hit the topic for 3 sec and moved on and I really wanted to know lol. Thing I dislike about the hobby is how crazy the switch names all are and some the have the same name by different maker or slight different name.. I which there was a super index of switches.

I ordered a Keychron Q1 Pro ISO CH 2 months ago. Today I otdered the ISO barebone Lemokey P1 Pro also with ISO CH keycaps. Damn why only Keychron provide ISO CH keyboards ???? I love the design of 8bitiso but.... Only ANSI ... Why !???? I don't want to change my typing layout. Where on earth are the other ISO keyboard brands? (Please no Logitech)

Great video. :) Are you into Low Profile keebs? I'm looking for a new TKL 80% low profile. I've glanced at Keychron's boards, Redragon K621 Horus and G515 and G915. Preferrably a ISO-nordic layout since I'm in Sweden, but don't know, maybe non - ISO will work after getting some use to.. Got any input on another brand or any recommendations? :) Cheers!

Genuine question but why don't keyboards just use unsoldered switches as stabilizers? Wouldn't that like, work fine (maybe)? ...

Got mine, the spacebar is hitting the switch before bottoming out. Feels pretty bad. Switching to a different spacebar fixed it. Interesting issue

I might do this. You're right, the space bar just sounds terrible compared to all the other keys.

$34 to get a much heavier metal keyboard but without the extra receiver. There was already barely any difference between the Q1 Max and the V1 Max. The V1 Max only has one color too. I went with the P1 Pro because metal and blue!

I really like the 75% keyboards but the fact that I normally use a ISO-ES layout means that I can mostly only get Keychron keyboards… so I’ve been thinking that maybe I can buy the barebones and make my first custom keyboard, and that way I could make the cons of the keyboard better, which are the switches and keycaps… only thing is that ISO-ES keycaps are as expensive as the keyboard itself hahaha

I had the same issue (ISO-UK) and I bought the Lemokey P1 for that exact reason, mines been great so far

At the sound test: that’s not a Q1 max right? There’s no F-row. Isn’t it a Q2 (Max or pro or whatever version of it) Anyway, I love my Q2 with the Gateron G Pro Brown switches to death, but dang maybe I should’ve waited for this cheaper Lemokey hahaha

Off topic question, but the sound that plays during your transitions that sounds like someone under water. Where is that from?
