Heart Gold, Soul Silver, and Platinum all expanded the battle tower area in their respective regions into the Battle Frontier instead, with the Battle Tower, Hall, Arcade, Castle, and Factory. In Diamond and Pearl, when you battled Palmer it would instead play the Cynthia battle theme. The Frontier Brain Battle theme here was added into HG/SS and Platinum, although the version in HG/SS has a couple of instrument changes compared to the Platinum one. That all being said, I would've loved it if they had at least kept this song for the Palmer fights instead of keeping it like it was in Diamond and Pearl.

God this is so nostalgic! I remember Diamond being my first ever DS game, beating it and then getting Platinum. I was so young I had almost no clue what I was doing competitively, but I could damn well make a team that could beat NPC fighters. I spent hours and hours addicted to the battle arcade. I never even knew who Dahlia was, let alone that there was any 'end' to the arcade at all. After hundreds of tries, I made it to Dahlia. I had no idea what was happening, but I knew it was something important that I didn't want to lose. The music was so energetic I couldn't stay seated. After around 10 minutes of fighting, I was down to her Dusknoir with only around 10HP on my last pokemon. Little did I know that I would land a critical hit on the last move in the battle and win it all. I saved that replay and watched it probably upwards of 100 times just to hear the music. Can't wait to see what they do in the sinnoh remakes.

This is by far the most intense and heart-stomping theme in Pokemon. yes, I'm aware of red/lance, blue, sun/moon elite 4, Cynthia, Iris, Giratina, ORAS team Aqua/Magma leader , etc etc etc. The best of the best right here. Honestly I'm not surprised the battle frontier isn't in BDSP. That thing has been dead since gen 5, and it wasn't in ORAS so I think that REALLY confirmed that the frontier was dead at that point. Honestly though, it kind of made since that they stopped implementing frontiers, they really only appealed to the adult hardcore fans. Most kids and young teens couldn't really play most of the modes in the frontier cause it was too hard and confusing for them, and I know this myself from first hand experience when I was 9 playing platinum for the first time. I constantly got my butt kicked by every npc in there, the regular battle tower was the only thing I was ok at because it was just regular battles. Pokemon wants to include features for all ages to enjoy, but the battle frontier for the most part was something mainly only the adult hardcore fans could enjoy, which was why they cut it from future pokemon games. I understand if that may be a bit sad for you if you liked the frontier, but it is what it is, and I can understand why they would want to cut it if it wasn't appealing to everyone, they don't want to add features that only appealed to adults in a game that, while IS made for everyone to enjoy, is still targeted towards kids.

@@iviyohane well the problem was that a lot of younger people were just too much of a noob at pokemon at that time for the frontier, it wasn't nessiccarly cause they couldn't make a good competitive team. Keep in mind, building your team is only half the battle in competitive pokemon. As for the music, i do agree it would've been kind of neat to hear a remix of the platinum frontier brain theme, but at the same time, cynthia's battle theme is still really fire to listrn to so I don't really see this as a bad thing.

As of right now, the remakes look gaudy and deliberately ignorant of advancements made in Platinum. I might be interested if they bring back one of the better features instead of gosh damned Battle Maison. I'm not holding my breath for this overpriced port though. I'd rather play Legends Arceus.
