Only using new Pokémon was a great idea since it does a variety of things like making your play through feel more unique, trainers like rivals and antagonists stand out more with their unique, it gives more of an incentive to complete the regional dex due to the natural desire to discover all these new Pokémon instead of getting bored of catching so many familar ones you already know for the sake of completion and it makes the region as a whole feel like its own thing Spending more time trying to figure out the typings of the new pokemon and how they work without looking it up is always fun, I hope they do this again for gen 10 and give those games a more distinct art style

I've been a Pokemon fan practically all my life. From the first episodes of the Pokemon animation and movie, to the times I borrowed GB games of Red and Blue, to GBC with Silver, and GBA of Fire Red and Red Rescue Team. Even onto the NDS where I owned my first Pokemon game: Pokemon Rangers. I got Pokemon Platinum, Soul Silver, and even went back to get all the games I only could've borrowed, plus some new ones like Emerald and even one of the Pinball games. Years went by, and I collected cards, plushies, games, and memorabilia. I played PMD Explorers of Time backwards and forwards, reset my games after transferring all my Pokemon to get the other starters, and even went as far as simply listening and truly immersing myself in the games. Black and White is a different game within a fantastic series. I have Black, where I have every Pokemon I have ever loved, from legendaries like Latias and Latios, Groudon and Kyogre, Arceus and Giratina, to special- to me anyways- Pokemon like Lucario and Zoroark, Eevee and Togetic, Sableye and Snorlax/Munchlax. I never got Black 2 or White 2, or X or Y, my 3DS died and I could never afford to replace or repair it until nearly a decade after, well past Sun and Moon and Omega Ruby and Sapphire. I was even gifted a Switch to enjoy some of the newer games. And now that I play them, and even games like Arceus Legends, Violet, and Shield, Super Mystery Dungeon and Mystery Dungeon DX, they feel so hollow. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing, maybe it's some perceived dissatisfaction, maybe it's resentment. Regardless, music like this brings back old sensations. Playing Soul Silver, I can still hear the sounds of my Chikorita poking around the ground. I can still feel the pressure of time stopping in Explorers of Time as I got closer to Temporal Tower. I can still taste that pesky hard-to-get ice cream in the city that's almost always sold out. And I can still smell the flowery fields as I lather up another tree with honey, hoping to get a Munchlax rather than Heracross for the umpteenth time. And I still love having my Serperior thrash and 1HKO almost every enemy, and the ones that don't, the follow-up Giga-Drain. Yea. And the tactic of "no damage no use" is still used in most games. I haven't fully lost yet.

And following Pokémon, really anything that add more time spent with the pokemon outside of battle. so we really can be the ideal trainer ya know.

Gen 1 has the best Pokémon lineup Gen 2 has the best Post game & Rival Gen 3 has the best Starters & Puzzles Gen 4 has the best Champion & region atmosphere Gen 5 has the best Evil team & Story Gen 6 has the best Gimmick (Megas) & Online feature Gen 7 has the best performance Gen 8 has the best Gym leaders Gen 9 has the best Plot twist & Forms (Paldean regional forms) Music wise? Genuinely every generation (but 3 sry) have good music. My favorite gens music being 4, 5, 8 and 9s. Every gen is still good in there own way which is why people love them it’s Pokémon who doesn’t love em 😊.
