Excadrill. This is a Pokemon that scared a whole generation of competitive gamers. Attack power rivalling Metagross. Outran Deoxys Speed Forme in a sandstorm. STAB in Earthquake that it could DOUBLE with Swords Dance and compliment with Rock Slide. As for typing, it was impossible to poison or hit with Thunder Wave, common stops to sweepers. Once it got going, you were screwed. This was why it DID pierce the heavens...and was BANNED to the Godhood of Uberdom by Smogon. LgndHntr

Excadrill base speed: 88 Blaziken base speed: 80 In a sandstorm the mole's speed doubles to 176 speed. A single Speed Boost will add 50% on top of Blaziken's original speed to make 120 speed. If it doubled, it would still land short at 160 speed. And if it went with a positive speed nature (+10%) it would tie at a neutral Excadrill's 176. Granted, you WILL survive a Rock Slide...with less than half remaining. Earthquake is a guaranteed KO. And Exca ALWAYS moves first. You are already dead.

I'll be honest. Excadrill is freaking awesome, but what about other, lesser known ground types? I like using someone like Claydol. That tank can buff the crap out of your team and itself AND it has decent Sp Atk (for me, anyways).

Sadly, competitive pokemon has made tons of cool pokemons seem as “useless”. Before competitive, my teams were quite shitty but fun to try on adventure but after competitive, there is no way i would use a Golem on my team without feeling it’s trash. I hate this about objectivity in good and bad pokemons.

That's a choice of preference. Tyranitar has a lot of moves that can cover Excadrill's counters, such as Fire Blast for Bronzong and Ice Beam for Gliscor. Tar's defenses aren't shabby, either. Hippowdon is an even more defensive behemoth than Tyranitar, and you'll be sure to survive things you never expected to survive. Which one you want depends on what your team wants/needs. Heck, even without sandstorm Excadrill functions well to cover Kyogre's bases swimmingly. LH

I caught a shiny Drilbur at Chargestone Cave 4 weeks ago, when I was looking for N's Pokemon since I've used the Memory Link. She has the ability Sand Rush. Sadly, she has a Mild Nature... oh well I'll see what I can do by raising her attack stat. (I know how to expertly raise Pokemon.)

I was literally shitting bricks when I was fighting him in Black 2. Not cause it's a tough sumabitch (which I admit is true), but because I didn't even know it was weak to ground type moves (I have a Sandslash). I used Dig and it killed it 1 hit (with a crit).

I'm certain that Vaporeon can tank to an extent but not enough to survive a 2HKO or 3HKO. Now, Pokemon belong on teams. Of course Excadrill would lose without the sandstorm, but then again would he be sent out without it? And if Blaziken did not have a teammate to answer for Giratina or the Drill it would be stopped cold! Blaziken wins ONLY when Excadrill is alone, but that would be like playing rock paper scissors when you are only allowed to play rock. They NEED their teams.
