I just realized im a die hard fan of pokemon..born in 93 first game system was my gameboy pocket. But i never completed a pokemon from start to finish in one day before. I remeber thinking oh wow i bet i can beat this if i just play all day. But usually got bored lol and needed a break after few hours. But i bet that would feel pretty darb sweet. I should attempt speed running very slowly. Just run the games through normal but have my goal being beating in one day

Hey gunner! I heard about your arm while watching the run, if you really haven't seen anyone about it yet I would suggest looking up 'stretches for drummers' There's plenty of things you can do to be proactive! Keep up the good work and I'm betting on another WR soon!

I actually had this idea myself and look up various stretches for people who play various intsruments, as I couldn't imagine anyone who would suffer from as consistent of repetitive motions as them. Unfortunately it doesn't really seem to do anything for me, which leads me to believe it might be something along the lines of nerve damage.

Basically your step counter affects your RNG, so you have to be aware of your exact count.

Saving and doing a hard reset allows you to control RNG to some degree, because RNG always starts at the same point and moves in the same "direction" after a reset. So, if you take the exact same number of frames to take the same actions, you'll always get the same outcome. Applying this for speedrunning is a bit more complicated and takes a ton of practice, but that's the gist of why I can manipulate no encounters before even obtaining Repels.

Honestly the length of a speedrun really doesn't impact how difficult it is for me. Its the pacing that makes it very different, but I still enjoy it. (Obviously this doesn't apply to 12+ hour runs lol, but that's difficult for an entirely different reason such as physical problems like sleep/bathroom breaks)

@@Gunnermaniac Honestly, the idea of running a game that's over like...4 or 5 hours scares me....I had recently considered running Persona 4 Golden, with the recent PC release letting me play it again....but checking the runs that you can find on KZbin...that thing is about 10 hours long...and sitting in my seat for that long just scares the crap outta me....no restroom breaks or anything.... Also, I keep hearing from History of Speedrun videos how brutal some categories are, especially when they are either really short and need precision, or are very, very long and require tons of luck and patience...

RNG manipulation in this run allows both Raikou spawn+catch via a specific set of things such as perfect step counters and clock settings at the start

Basically the ID the lottery checks for is generated the first time you start a new file on a blank cartridge. It's possible to get a consistent ID if you can hit a 4 frame window, with a specific buffered setup. Normally this would be fairly useless, but because the free Spearow (Kenya) always has the same trainer ID, we set the lottery to check for that ID. This is obviously allowed by speedrunning rulesets for gen 2

Choosing the girl saves about 1 second over the course of the run, because of the compression of her backpack sprite or something? But more importantly, because of that slight difference, the RNG manipulations only work if you pick the girl, so you're effectively forced to.
