I think the beasts were Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon pre-ressurection from Ho-oh. think about it. nobody knew about them until then, it's in johto where eevee can be, same types and extremely similar colors, parts resembling other parts, etc.

A why can't we all agree? suicune is themed of the north wind (some mythology suggests the north wind took the shape of a large DOG). (It says so IN AN EPISODE. #WowMuchPokenerd). I think dimly after the Thunder God (also mythology; it pounced and wherever it landed thunder struck. That I'm positive of). And entei after >A< fire God because WHAT ANCIENT RELIGN DOES NOT HAVE A FIRE GOD??!??!??!
