Just the seamlessness of being able to start a battle by throwing out a pokemon without having a long cutscene was such an amazing feature. The fast-paced and dynamic nature of the game makes it hard to return to a traditional gameplay style. So even if the next pokemon game is the same old adventure, having the ability to initiate and run from battles on the spot would make the game so much better.

I agree wholeheartedly! I'm going to be bored going back to the classic style. I need the seamlessness of this game to be the standard for the series.

IT REALLY DOES. The new style is great for so many reasons.

Big agree! I absolutely hope the Arceus formula is what we see from Mainline pokemon here on out

This has definitely jumped to the top of Pokemon list for me. I hope all future pokemon continue and expand on this approach

I honestly don't think I could go back to classic pokemon after this. I want the next 25 years of pokemon to refine this approach.

Making the next game with gyms but having the pokedex still feel as important as it does in Legends would be ideal

I agree! I need some more action. Ugh, this just gave me more ideas on how they could do that. Might need to make another video.

I can see them doing a follow up or sequel to Arceus where the plot is centered around how gyms and the elite four got started!

I love that idea! The start of the pokemon league. I'd definitely be interested in learning how that became a concept.

The pan from Big Boi Raichuy to Tiny Angel Pikachuy and The Truman Show clip were EVERYTHING. Is it too late to nominate you for Best Editing in this year's Oscars? I think a modern day Pokémon game could still work with the new Pokédex progression. Let's say we're sent to a completely new continent where humans simply don't care about Pokémon. They're burnt out and over the Pokémon fad. But by filling out the Pokédex and exploring nearby areas, you could spark someone's enthusiasm enough for them to open a new Gym and challenge you. We could even have some customization options in choosing between two different Pokémon types for each Gym. Gyms not chosen could become a randomized Elite Four at the end. That way, every player's experience remains unique. The key factors would be retaining the visible wild Pokémon and quick entries into battle. Those two elements really helped refresh the formula in Arceus.

I think I'll be eligible for next year's Oscars! Feel free to nominate me! But I like that approach to it. Inspiring knowledge and research in others is super cool.

I don't see how a modern day pokemon game would works in "legends arceus" style, sadly... because i think the time period is the one responsible for the pokedex be interesting at all, the lore of them discovering things for the first time in a country in the past with the majority of the areas being a wild world, in the future won't be much left to exploration since everything are already citys, the pokedex turned out to be common and nobody fears Pokemon anymore, wich leads to short routes full of trainers... everything ends up being just like a regular pokemon game when you put things back in the present... i feel like Pokemon works better in a past time period.

That's definitely my worry about a future setting. This game really tied the concepts together thanks to the time period and setting. But I'm hopeful they can find a way to make the gameplay as quick and fun in the next game.

I think we could mishmash features from every Pokémon game on the Switch to kinda get what you're after- an important Pokédex in the modern era. Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee featured requirements that needed to be met before a Gym could be challenged. They were mostly as easy as "show me this Pokémon", but if your progress in the Gym challenge is gated by your completion of the Pokédex, that's certainly a motivation. I also don't actually think the Pokédex needs much reframing in the modern games. They could just contextualize the Pokédex as a sort of educational program that your parents signed you up for because it's important to the people in this world that you learn about Pokémon yourself, because they aren't all friendly! And of course, as a competitive player, I'd appreciate the QOL and "doesn't-waste-your-time"-ness of Sword and Shield.

I want a modern setting legends style game with multiplayer elements like the wild area But use online features similar to the grand underground and have smaller groups than the wild area. But most importantly, I want it to feel like these players are other trainers also in the same world, not just a random glimpse into an alternate reality or something. Like set up the game so it makes sense that many people would be there, and make it so that you can actually interact in real time, with emotes, battle/trade requests, and more Like, I love the lost satchel system of being able to help out other players, so imagine if a similar system could be implemented in a more real-time sense

MMO Pokemon is definitely an idea I'm interested in. I know tem tem is a game trying that out. I haven't played it myself, but have been interested in checking it out and seeing what they do with the concept.
