I just looked at the trailer - I admit, the trailer looks really cool - that is, the trailer itself looks legitimately great for an art direction. The trailer revealed basically nothing about the state of the game itself, what the game's art direction will be, what the gameplay will be, or... much of substance in terms of how the actual game will turn out either gameplay-wise or aesthetically. So... If they put as much effort into the game as they did into that trailer's style, then it'll probably be a good game - but it's the pokemon company, and they'll have to defy their established track record of quality standards for their games on the switch.

Okay I currently have Touhou 18 brainrot going on and a character is very into digging and all this digging mentioning is not helping. (starts humming 暁Records - Dig it Dig Out) That said, this whole game taking place in a single city sounds interesting. I imagine it'll be akin to a GTA/Spiderman game. The fact it isn't coming out until 2025 is very interesting and leaves me more hopeful. Will have to wait and see for the official gameplay trailer though.

I have this theory that the game takes place on the future on a bigger lumiose city, thats where you have all the stores, centers, facilities and what not, but you can travel to the past where instead of lumiose city didnt exist and it was just wilds, fields, etc. Thats where you catch pokemon. And you can bring them to the future.

If we're doing a 1:1 to its irl equivalent (which happens quite a bit for Kalos, minus the AZ stuff), then Lumiose is almost 2000 years old - it just got renovated into a modern city (and the Eiffel Tower was constructed) in the late 1800s, just like Legends Arceus's time period.

Honestly, the entire game being set in a single large city actually makes me more optimistic. I've thought for a while that they've been biting off way more than they could chew in terms of game scale, especially considering their tight release schedules. Guess we'll see if this decision pays off once more trailers and the game itself are released. Also, it makes me sad how many people completely forgot about AZ as a character (not that I can really blame them) because he's very clearly going to play a significant role in the game's story, considering the fact that it's a game presumably about Kalos's past, and the title is a direct reference to him.

Finally, we get the full in-universe explanation for the ZZAZZ glitch. I can't wait! They got generational gimmicks right the first time with megas. Now they're going to bring them back for one spinoff (to rake in the nostalgia bucks) and we'll never see them again after this. At least not until the gen 6 remakes in 2036.

I'm honestly just looking forward to seeing how exactly they adapt the whole "one city setting" for Lumiose, as the time period + reconstruction/urban development plans with it being based off of Paris could have a lot of interesting set pieces. If anything I do hope they'll let us roam at least a little bit, the whole one area premise does have me a little on edge. Despite that, I am at least a little bit optimistic, lots of games I enjoy are able to take place in just one area/city, so maybe this one could work too. (Shoutouts to Yakuza, and Persona 4 in particular for games that take place within one single area) With megas back, I really do hope we actually get to see some Kalos original Pokémon have them. The starter trio seems like a no brainer, but I'm hoping for some niche picks personally

This game could save X and Y. XY had a ton of plot points that just... never go anywhere. Having a game that takes place solely in the largest city in the region can definitely work. X and Y already created the details about the region, now we have a limited area to hand-craft a story around it. It would make sense that every major event in the story would have to "pass" through Lumiose City, either literally or by word-of-mouth. Even if the event itself doesn't happen in the city, or even during the game, we can still gain some insight into questions about Kalos, like why the biodiversity around Lumiose City so drastically different. What is the crystal sundial in Anistar City? How did the massive weapon get in Geosenge Town? What purpose did the mansions in Camphrier Town serve? But then again, I can't expect Game Freak will DIG that far into the story.

Great 2 of my most hated Pokémon ever the Greninja line and Zygarde. Now to fully understand why I hate these 2 Pokémon we need to go back, to 1943 America. In 1943 a scientist named Oppenheimer started the Manhattan project to create a weapon to use on the Nazi's to end the second World War. After a long time, it was finally finished, and Hitler was dead. VE Day, Victory in Europe Day when the War ended in Europe, however, we Americans were still made about the dirty attack from the Japanese at Pearl Harbor and poetically decided 2 atomic bombs will be dropped on Japan's Hiroshima and Nakagaki. These two cities were chosen due to the lack of cultural impact on the Japanese people. And because of that horrible horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE MISTAKE.... Someone from game freak made the WORST season of the Pokémon anime and shoved it in ass first into the main line games that I absolutely hated. It's a shitty looking Transformer, Shittier Houndoom, and a plot armor deviant art oc do not steal TR-Ash-Greninja and it's not like it makes any sense either only Greninja get this shitty idea of a "BaTtLe BoNd" because people and pokemon working together has not already been said like ten trillion times each second of each generation for like what 25 years. It's worse than any and all horrible pokemon design that came before or since. I hope they never bring these forms back EVER. Let them be forgotten and NEVER come back or mention for the rest of time. (Feel free to use this when the Froakie line and Zygarde in the in-game tier list Cheese)

You have Frogadier who has a better-looking face but other than that it's just bigger froakie. And then you have Greninja who is the worst offender. Its design is like that of a child going to a Renascence fair since the other two Kalos brand cereal starters are a Mage and a Knight and just saying ninjas are cool lmao. It looks awkward in its own region. The funniest thing is that in Gen 7 the Gr(Ass) type starter looks like it would have fit in as the Rogue WAY better than Greninja does. It also doesn't help that every time I see this thing trying to look cool in the anime or Smash I constantly think of someone just grabbing its horrendous tongue noose and it just snapping its own neck with hilarious cartoon sound effects. Not to mention this starter was the first to start the horrible trend of starters just being given broken abilities in competitive just so the Pokemon Company could advertise them even more because they clearly were not bias from the beginning with Greninja and definitely gave the other two starters the same treatment as the disgusting frog. Also why isn't this thing a poison dart frog? That would have been actually cool and have a reason to be blue other than lol it's a water type and a cooler evo than what we got.

Wait, wait, wait. I’m still stuck on the “set entirely in Lumiose City” thing. Lumiose City has five districts, as shown on the maps. Legends Arceus had five explorable areas. Are they just going to turn each district into a semi-open environment to explore/catch Pokemon/develop the city’s infrastructure? Or are we going to be visiting Lumiose City in five different eras? Maybe the whole game DOES take place in one location, but we have to do tasks in the distant past, recent past, present, near future, and distant future?
