Just cuz GameFreak never made a cross gen game doesn’t mean they never will. Remember when we thought GameFreak would never outsource another studio to do mainline games or do DLC in lieu of 3rd versions? Also, I am glad Nintendo isn’t focused on mergers, especially with what is going on with Microsoft at the moment.

There were Gameboy Colour games that features that only worked on GBA or extra maps/levels. I can see something like this happening again. Black and White were built with the DSi in mind for the camera video call, just a blank screen for the DS. More likely the new Switch will have enhanced features while playing the Switch version of the game

Switch 2 has backwards compatibility so a release on the switch is also a switch 2 release

One thing I wish Nintendo would do is license out their less used IP to highly trusted developers. For example: have a critically acclaimed indie developer make a Kid Icarus or F-Zero game, one of their unused IP's.

I do like them and see them dish out their old unused IP's to other developers to other companies to pick up and make for their systems, either as remakes, sequels or what not, so yeah

Ehh, in the anniversary of Red & Blue, all we got were the OG Red & Blue games coming to the 3DS's virtual console. It wasn't until the following year when we got LGPE, which was for Yellow's anniversary. I feel like it's more realistic to expect the OG Gold & Silver games for Switch online over a 2nd Gold & Silver remake.

The dev cycle and predictions certainly make sense, but we have seen what happens with the games quality. And no just because Scarlet Violet will soon overtake Sword Shield in Games sold doesn't mean anything. Compare the amount of Switches that were sold when Sword Shield came out and last year with Scarlet Violet. The possible Userbase grew immensly yet the Pokemon sales are...almost the same. So technically the sales went down, Pokemon knows this. Extending the dev cycle this one time for 1 year will have a great impact in the overall series future. I see them doing it.

The thing is if Nintendo acquired studios they wouldn't do it for no reason. They'd use the studio in some way or let someone else use the ip in a meaningful way

Correction. You said they don't release optimized versions of games from the end of one system to release on a new system, but that's not quite true. Pokken Tournament was originally released on the Wii U, but when the Switch came out, they re-released it for the Switch

There is one other thing the person forgot. that pokemon never releases a new gen on the year of a console release that they are planning to put a new gen on because it doesnt sell as well. no new gen ever has come out on the year the console they are putting it on launched. this is with every generation. gen 1 and 2 GB which was out for years, gen 3 GBA was out for 2 to 3 years, gen 4 and 5 system was out for at least 2 years before gen 4 came out and gen 5 was closer to the end, gen 6 2 years after 3ds launched and gen 7 was closer to the 3ds end, gen 8 2019 the switches 3rd year and gen 9 was 5th year of switches life cycle. they do release a new gen every three years but that is only because it doesnt happen on year one of a new console launch. they have never launched a new generation of pokemon on the first year of a consoles launch cycle because it wont sell nearly as well otherwise. I do think sales being affected is the main reason it wont come out next year if the switch 2 is launching because nintendo definitely will want titles for the switch and they benefit more from having gen 10 come 2026 than 2025 in multiple ways and it allows them to have something big for a big anniversary because they like to do big stuff for 10 year anis like how last time they gave away a large amount of pokemon that were really hard to get like event legendaries.

Well, it says Nintendo Switch 2 would be announced before March 2025, not released. Nintendo Switch came out 2 years after it was announced; not confirming Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2026-2027 (honestly I hope it doesn’t come out that long)

Before the end of the fiscal year could be anywhere between now & March of 2025, so a September-December announcement is not out of the question. Also, a credible leaker said that the console would launch at March 2025 at the earliest, so unless it gets internally delayed a second time, it is coming soon. Also, why would Furukawa say that a next gen console is on it's way only to not announce it until next year?

Nintendo may not be 100% perfect and there's a lot of issues especially for game preservation and such, at least they aren't like their competitors tbh, as long as they don't make the same mistakes their competitors made, and I am not a Nintendo fanboy who defends Nintendo even with all of their questionable decisions, but yeah
