This Cypher had me waiting on the edge of my seat months before it released, and god damn it delivered. I loved the '13 Cypher, but this shit lit my hair on fire. Shofu's verse was a really good opener for this. The energy was tangible in his verse, and I can't help but get hyped. Lots of Pokémon references, lots of clever metaphors in the lyrics. 8/10 easy. Shofu/Scoot's verse was a bit slower and gave me a chance to breathe. The wordplay was amazing in this one. The Poison/Fire Salandit line left me reeling the first time I heard it. 8.5/10. Scoot's slow flow is a really good foil to the rest of the Cypher. This one is really chill, giving me a relaxed feeling compared to the rest of the high energy verses. Again, genius wordplay. 8/10. I'll be the first to admit it, I don't watch Joey's channel, so most of the references flew over my head. It still sounded good, but without the injokes it was less clever wordwise than most of the Cypher. 7/10, though it'd be higher if I watched him. Haydunn, Haydunn, Haydunn. What the hell happened? His 2013 verse was a dark horse that took me out of nowhere and was a favorite of mine. This time he just sounded like he didn't care about delivery or lyrics. 5.5/10. Oh my god, Beatdown's verse always gets me hyped. His wordplay was good, but his delivery and energy were stunning. One of my favorite verses no doubt. 9/10 Trickywi's verse is in a weird place. I love her flow and the concept of rapping from the POV of the Eeveelutions. The only problem is that it is pitifully short. A real shame that she didn't get more time on the mic. 7.5/10 I'm a little biased on this one since Rogersbase's verse mixes Pokémon and One Piece, two of my favorite media franchises. Besides that, he had some good lines, a decent flow, and good delivery. Certainly adequate, but it wouldn't be as cool if I didn't know the references. 7.5/10 G. Yee made an immediate impression with me in '13, and he's back with a vengeance this time around. His rhymes were so sick I started to sneeze, and his performance was just cool. The entire verse exuded badassery. 8.5/10 Shuetube's verse is so well delivered that it's stunning. His inflections and the sheer speed at which he goes is astonishing, and the clever rhymes and the great background beat bring together a seriously impressive performance. 8.5/10 CTC. Oh man, he slaughtered this track. His delivery was just energetic enough to be visually interesting, and his inflections drive the absolutely genius wordplay home. Tied for my favorite verse this time around. 9.5/10 Matt Houston's verse must be Regigigas. It starts off slow and uninteresting, but when he dabs, he flips the switch and goes hard on the beat. So much better than his horrendous 2013 performance. 8/10 Shizzy VI is the gawd. His technical ability is impressive, his wordplay was very clever, and the whole verse flows ridiculously well. He spits fire like nobody else on this Cypher. Well, except CTC. 9.5/10. Overall, the wait was worth it, and I revisit this video almost daily to bask in the glory. Solid 8.5/10.
