@mrknarf44385 жыл бұрын
@@tacobellplease But that's MTGO: in paper Mtg there are warnings which may lead to a Game Loss for Slow Play. But those are only used during the timed parts of competitive events to prevent people from exploiting the clock, during finals there is no clock. He took a minute and a half (15:37 - 17:03) to make a game changing decision. That may seem like much, and as a judge I'd have encouraged him to play faster, but I wouldn't have enforced the penalty at such a high REL: it gives the game a bad reputation and makes it all seem pointless and less exciting for viewers and players alike. It's not like it took him five minutes either. Sure, he had already received a warning, and rules must be applied, but this may set a good precedent to change some of those rules.

As this is the finals of Masters we're talking about here, the judges need to be strict in order to be fair. Not to mention how Shintaro had been given multiple warnings by various judges throughout the event to play at a more faster pace and yet he still continued to play slow, thus leading to the prize penalty. The penalty wasn't put on Shintaro unfairly, it was put on him as a result from the many warnings he had been given. This was all said by the commentators. That's why he got given the 2 prize penalty.

I can see both sides of the Argument for the Judge call, while it does seem a little unfair that shintaro didn't get to play out the match, and maybe pull a win out of it, he did take a very long time between stopping looking through discard piles and making his decision, which he knows he should be avoiding due to his previous warnings. It would've been nice to see Shintaro win, but the judge ruling wasn't entirely uncalled for.
@RobertBrianGabriel5 жыл бұрын
problem is it is the finals and the allotment of time. the earlier rounds, players tend to slow play to go for a draw. But does judges really realize a lot of things happening to get to that draw? e.g imagine using a Cherish Ball getting a GX, but all the players would check his whole deck for minutes to check what cards were prized. Some players even pick a GX already and still check his deck? For me that is a slow play, eating the clock a lot and maybe going for the draw?!
@lucarr10415 жыл бұрын
@@RobertBrianGabriel They tend to be a bit more lenient for the first time the deck is searched, as all of the higher level players check to see what's prized, and so there's no unfair time advantage from it. There will be a cut off though, probably at around 1-1.5 minutes where that first search is called to have taken too long.
@RobertBrianGabriel5 жыл бұрын
Lucarr10 main problem is they/judges are lenient even it is not the first time. A lot of players would go back and check their deck several times during the match.

This last match is so hard to watch. Lose is not hard to take in, but lose to penalty, that must be really hard to swallow. Shintaro kun, I believe the audience's eyes are clear and we can discern the truth. Please don't let it bother you too much.
@ProphecyPhrase5 жыл бұрын
LOL he was told multiple times by judges to stop slow playing and now his actions caught up to him. I'm glad he got that penalty. If he's a past champion then he should act like one.
@PoXReal5 жыл бұрын
@@ProphecyPhrase the moment he got the penalty, he roughly used 1 minute and 22 seconds to decide which active pokemon to promote, but during that time, he checked opponent's discard pile and his own discard pile, and then decide. There were three actins involved actually. Also, it was a really critical moment of the game. So I absolutely think it was reasonable to have that "much" of thinking time.
@PoXReal5 жыл бұрын
He may have slow played for the other times but for that exact moment, I think he shouldnt be penalized.
@ProphecyPhrase5 жыл бұрын
Checking the discard pile(s) may be an action but it doesn't move forward the gamestate. You're not playing any cards (which you couldn't do as an Active Pokemon needed to be brought up before the turn could begin) and you're not triggering any effects. It shouldn't take that long to look through the discard pile(s) and then bring up a new Active Pokemon. 30 seconds maybe but nearly a minute and a half? Nah, no way. To pick out your original response of "I believe the audience's eyes are clear and we can discern the truth." What do you mean by this? That the judges were being out of order? That Shintaro is innocent and should have been the Champion instead? I'm sorry but from the points I have previously stated, which have been said in the video by the commentators. Henry Brand deserved the win. He played fast and efficiently, like a champion should do. I believe the penalty was completed justified and Shintaro deserved the penalty 100%.
@PoXReal5 жыл бұрын
@@ProphecyPhrase Thanks for your well written comments, but It is hard to accept its fairness for me. The decision really discredits and doesn't do justice to Henry, the champion, as well.

I’m just getting back into Pokémon tcg can someone explain what exactly Shintaro did to lose the first game in layman’s terms? Like what do they mean he took to long to promote a Pokémon?
@bentheredonethat16975 жыл бұрын
After his defending pokemon was defeated, he had to decide which pokemon to promote from his bench. Which one he chose could have decided the game depending on his hand and the card he draws. However this was cut short by the judges deciding he took too long to promote a new pokemon, and in combination with penalties and warnings in previous rounds the judges decided to deliver a 2 prize card penalty. This gave the game to Henry as he only needed to win 2 more prize cards to win that game.
