Hello Jonathan, greetings from Brazil! Since I started consuming the content on your channel, two incredible things have happened. Firstly I started putting my opponents into a range and not into a specific hand. (yes, I used to do that). Secondly, I've been having a lot more fun playing poker. By the way, I'm a recreational player, but I constantly try to improve my game. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us.

This was so helpful. Just about betting and calling in general and why sometimes there is a silver of red and why. Bet sizing so helpful too. I get outdrawn costantly by overbetting OEST or going all in on them. I should be checking or betting small or folding, not potsize raising on turn and getting checkraised all in then losing almost every time. Thanks, Jonathon! As usual, incredibly helpful video.

Hi Jon great vid. Say when we raise on the flop facing a small bet with our junkier draws, btn calls and our draw equity improves on the turn considerably, if we check and face a turn bet do we then shove? Or lead out, shove? Are we commited or can we fold? Im still trying to understand everything. Thanks.

Hi Jonathan on which turn should we keep betting as a bluff ? Am I right if I keep betting on the following turns: 1- turns that complete my draws, 2- turns that improve my draws (from backdoor flush draw to flush draw), 3-High cards to the flop

Hey Jonathan, can you make a video on how you structure your value bet sizing? Do you value bet say, based on the worst possible hand you can get called by or the best possible hand you can get called by?

Having a range legend (color for raise, call, fold - orange green blue etc,) would be helpful as you dissect hands so we can look at other aspects as you discuss. Thanks!

What do you do when they call the check raise or shove on you?? Like im confused why on a board with 3 of same suit we are almost always check raise with bottom pair 3,2 suited

on Ks-9s-3s: how does it make sense to only call with As9x for fear of being 3-bet shoved on if you check raise, but with K9, you're supposed to check-raise and then call a shove? wouldn't you have more outs with the As than you would would top 2 (K9)?

your first example shows BTN betting 3.5BB -- but I don't think it's mentioned what stakes this game is?

Hey Jonathan. Recently I was in a tourney with around 12k in chips 100/200 blinds. I had Ad6d and the flop came out Qd10d and 2d. I was UTG and raised around 1k with only middle position calling. the turn came out Ks and I bet around 5k with the other guy calling. the river came around with another 10 and I alled in and he called with a boat. In my mind i tried to extract value but ended up losing. what could I have done better???

I'm not Jonathan, but overall, I think you did fine. I would choose a 1/4 pot to 1/3 pot size bet on the flop given that you have the nut flush, can't easily get out drawn, and it's a dynamic board that is likely to change drastically by the River. With that thought process, you may be thinking, then why bet small if you have the nuts and the board is likely to change? Well, you bet small to not commit your stack, and it protects you from check-raises. Which are common on these board textures. You will get check raised by a lot or pairs, 2-pairs, draws, and sets on this board. When that happens, you drop a 3-bet for value and to protect your smaller bet sizing. Ultimately, you are waiting for the Turn card to determine if you want to commit the rest of your stack. When you get to the Turn, this is your inflection point. (If you didn't get check-raised) You can either play for stacks or play smaller. If you play for stacks, choose a more polarizing bet size, such as 2/3 pot, 3/4 pot, or larger. Which it seems you did. I would play for stacks when I get a non-board pairing, non-diamond. aka the board has not changed dramatically. Choose whichever size that leaves a River shove of 2/3 pot, or so. And I would bet all Rivers in this scenario. But you can have 2 sizes again, 1/3 pot for River cards that don't help you, like a low non-diamond or a low board pairing card like a 10 or 2. And an all-in size of ~2/3 pot for the remainder of the River cards. In general, you played the hand just fine, and more than likely you were doomed to get stacked no matter how you played the hand.

OK instead of an encyclopedia I'm just gonna say don't extract max value on a paired board with a flush

For the last example with a flop of AJ9 rainbow, I can understand the x/r with A6o-A8o. But in mid-stakes or less online, if BT goes then goes all in here, you really think we should just call off our remaining 30bb all in with A7o? What in the world are we beating from BT's 3bet all in range here? Maybe BT has some bluffs here in a 10K live tourney that you play in Vegas, but the average player at less than

JL, I clicked on download charts on your site.... no download... looks like it's ok, but nope.

I think people check raise so little that you don't really need a polarizing range until you get up to higher level stakes. You can check raise with nothing (I guess that would be polarizing) when you believe the opponent has a weak hand by this small bet and you think he is trying to steal the pot.
@goodtimes7383Ай бұрын
I have two problems with this video: 1) fails to touch on what our turn strategy is. Telling the world they need to check raise all these hands but then they get to the turn in a bloated pot and they are a stunned mullet. 2) getting in 40bb with a weak top pair is terrible against 95% of players. You saying that so many spots are a mistake is wrong too - it is only wrong against a perfect GTO robot. Of course you know this but we can't go calling plays "mistakes" per se when they are always opponent dependent.

There's only one rule: if your opponent checking back is bad for you, don't check raise. Otherwise? Get creative.

You should not C/R with your high equity draws that would have to fold to a re-raise/all-in.
@parkroote59026 ай бұрын
If it's a high equity draw, you should be able to call it all in when you get re raised. you have high equity. That's the exact spot where you want all the chips in the middle.
