Vlogger-on-vlogger action took place on the Hustler Casino Live stream as Mariano faced off against China’s Eric Poker. Mariano was left with just bottom pair on the river and faced a huge pot-sized bet from Eric. Could Mariano decipher this creative bluff, or would Eric maneuver his way to victory in front of thousands of his and Mariano’s fans watching at home?
When an opponent overbets on the turn, they will usually be highly polarized, either holding a very strong made hand, a strong combo draw, or complete air. Raising these bets out of position is not often a good idea. A raise will typically only succeed in folding out the bluffs in their range. These are the types of hands that you want to keep betting when you have value. It will also keep in the strongest parts of their range which may already have you crushed or a lot of outs to improve by the river.
Mariano Grandoli, or Mariano as he is more commonly known as is an American professional poker player born in Argentina. He regularly features on the Hustler Casino Live stream but has started to make more of an appearance on The Lodge Card Club stream. He also has a popular poker KZbin channel with over 157,000 subscribers. Since 2021 he has won over $900,000 from live streamed cash games, he is yet to make a name for himself on the poker tournament circuit as he primarily focuses on cash games.
Eric is a professional poker player from China, he has a poker KZbin channel with over 40,000 subscribers. The commentator mentions at the start of the stream that the chat has mainly tuned in to see Eric play. This was his first time playing on a tracked live streamed cash game.
Hustler Casino Live is a full-scale, high-value poker production. Close to a million dollars was spent transforming the casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set of this new state-of-the-art live poker show. Hustler Casino Live looks more like coverage of a TV broadcast sporting event and appeals to those beyond the poker community. Unscripted and unedited, they host regular poker streams such as ‘Max Pain Monday’ and ‘Thirsty Thursday’. Some of the most notable poker players to have appeared on the show are Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’ ‘RaiseOnce’, Tom Dwan ’durrrr’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider, Garrett Adelstein ‘Gman’, Tony Guoga ‘Tony G’ and many more.
🔍 Preflop:
Eric Poker limps in from under-the-gun+1 with T7o. Mariano Poker raises to $400 with Q6 of spades from the hijack. After the cutoff, button, and blinds fold, Eric makes the call, and they head to the flop.
💸 Flop - Jd 9s 6h:
Eric checks after flopping a gutshot straight draw on the jack-high rainbow board. Mariano flops bottom pair, a backdoor flush draw, a backdoor straight draw, and also has an overcard. He fires out a continuation bet of $300 and Eric calls.
💣 Turn - Kd:
The K of diamonds on the turn introduces a backdoor flush draw and brings in a possible straight. Eric has now improved to a double-gutter. He checks and Mariano fires an overbet of $2,400 with bottom pair and his own gutshot straight draw. Eric check-raises to $6,500 with his draw and ten-blocker to the nuts. Mariano calls and they head to the river.
🌊 River - 3d:
The backdoor flush draw arrives on the 3 of diamonds river. Eric misses his draw but does have a flush blocker and straight blocker. He fires a bet of $15,000 for just over pot. Mariano only has bottom pair and a straight blocker himself. Can the popular poker vlogger figure this bluff out? Stay tuned to this entire poker video to find out!
Jonathan Little analyzes live poker hands from TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark, Hustler Casino Live, The Lodge Poker Club & PokerGO. He also analyzes popular poker vloggers such as Rampage Poker, Brad Owen, Jaman Burton, Ashley Sleeth, Wolfgang Poker and others!

I prefer to watch cash games and it is not even close. I find the 30 second tanks before each action in tournaments insufferable and it irritates me so much I almost can't watch tourney play anymore.

new video idea: what to do with marginal draws out of position. like what to do with KT on a AQ9 board out of position facing a bet. Can u talk about combos to bluff with, position, implied odds, fold equity needed to bluff, etc etc... THANKS

It’s a very impressive call, no doubt, and it shows that Mariano is a perceptive, thinking player. Just bear in mind though that 1) the nit game is on and Eric doesn’t have a button yet, and 2) these guys play with each other a good amount. We don’t know how wild Eric had been playing that night or in the past, but I would imagine Mariano has seen him get out of line before.

If I'm ever playing for pots of this size, and I make a pot sized bet on the river and my opponent calls me with 4th pair, you can bet that I'm going to be carefully studying the hand to see how Mariano got onto me. I think it is the turn raise - not enough value. The only bluff that came in was the diamond craw, and as JL pointed out a lot of players won't bluff at frequency with hands like that, as they'll be afraid of getting blown off their equity. They'd rather see a cheap river.

I like the call. Without knowing the result, when the river came out, I thought Eric should around 20k(maybe not so round in number)+. There’s much more to think about considering turn barrels that Mariano could have that simply call pot sized rivers. Eric having the straight blocker with the 10 and a flush blocker the 7 is fun and all, but AJ, AK, , KT, KQ, and a couple other pair combos that include flush blockers may find a call “when it’s close”. I think the 1.5x+ pot bets has a more balanced approach in getting the folds you want and then also getting calls from stronger hands when you have the nuts.

Wait what?!? Now you say that if you take this line and bet all-in on the river your going to get snapped off by two pair every time? Over 3x pot river jams on a board with possible straights and flushes getting snapped off by two pair every time? What games are you playing in?

@@zacharyberry1478 Aww we got a groupie how cute. People like you are the ones that Mariano can piss in a cup and you would happily drink it 😂 your reasoning on your message makes no sense. Nothing about my opinion expressed my level of game for you to say with no sense if im a whale lol. Im a profitable player that doesn’t need to show case how much money I make or show/share my level of thinking at the table that most people do. I dont need to show my plays and huge pots to gain fanboys admirers like you. But if you do your research you will see the punts and crazy -EV plays he has. People sometimes get to higher stakes only because who they know and not because what they have earned. I dont know him personally. I dont care to know him. I have played with him shortly. Thats all i can say. My opinion is based on what I have seen in videos and experienced myself. And if he is putting himself out there in front cameras and KZbin videos that people can express their OWN opinion then “get out of the kitchen if you cant handle the heat” we don’t have to agree. We just have different opinions. People glorify players base on one call that went right instead of really making sense of it all. Of course we when you call and you are right you look like a god but when wrong you look like fish. This hand! Not because he won means he played it right. Even in the short run that is -EV Best of luck to you.
