I speak Russian, not Polish but we expats eat a lot of the same stuff because of USSR history. Understandably, he pronounced "go-lub-tsí" wrong. Root of USSR dish golubtsi comes from word "gólub", which means pidgeon. So technically it means "little pidgeons", maybe because of the shape? The filling inside cabbage is very similar to some types of meatballs. It's rice + mince meat (oftentimes chickeb meat but can be beef or port or a mix). The BEST versions of them is 1. When you wrap in grape leaves instead of cabbage. Kind of a bigger version of Turkish dolma. 2. Ketchup is often too overwhelimg, use tomato paste instead in the soupy water. That water is so delicious later, nd tomato paste provides more acid to cut through the richness. 3. When you stuff the same mince-rice balls into bell peppers or hollowed-out squash or big tomato - it is simply DIVINE.

Thank you, that's a nice thing to hear from non-polish person. To be honest food in this short is rather wannabe polish food. For example the "Potato Pancake" we does not have such a thing, I'm Polish and I never seen this, we have Placki Ziemniaczane which are basically just hush browns. The potato and cheese pierogi aren't even that traditional, they're literally called Pierogi Ruskie in Poland (Russian Pierogi), it's taken from Russian cuisine. The traditional Polish Pierogis are made with meat, or with mushrooms and cabbage that are mainly consumed during christmas time, you can also make pierogi with stawberries or blueberries for a quick dessert. The Gołąbki are pretty much same as in video, I don't know about meat in it but I believe it's at least similar. Kiełbasa is also same, I mean, It's hard to mess it up. It's made more of American way in the short, same food will be a little diffrent and made much more traditional way, mostly the spices choice in polish restaurants for example.

“Quite bland not a lot of seasoning” is something you’ll probably find in a lot of food in Eastern Europe and the U.K., weirdly. Not sure about Eastern Europe but with U.K. people don’t realise that up until 1930 we still had “Workhouses” which is essentially mild form of slavery in return for a bed in what is basically a huge dorm in a factory and 3 basic meals - if you’ve seen Oliver Twist, that pretty much encapsulates Workhouses. 95% of Brits could barely afford Salt and Butter until well after WW2 ended, we still had rationing up until 1954! And had rationing again dying the Suez Crisis of 1956-1957 and during an Oil Crisis from 1973-1979.
