22, not 21! It was a line of my childhood, when we used it from school to home and etc., embarking at Borsucza and disembarking at Francesco Nullo (named after our street, which, in way, is named after Francesco Nullo (1826-1863), who was an italian general and took part of battle of Krzykawka (1863). He is (alongside Giuseppe Garibaldi) one of national heroes of Italy, who led to the unification of the nation. It's also widely popular in Poland, that there's even a monument of him in Warsaw and many schools named after him, notably in Olkusz (city located northwest from our)). The tram you rode is E1 set, which typically pushes trailers (especially C1s, C2s, C3s or C4s) or runs as solo (as seen typically on Nowa Huta tram lines, 16 and 21, and, formerly, also 7 (when it ran between Dąbie and Kraków Cargo Railway Station, it was closed for second time in 2018)). It was retired in Vienna in the last year, but it still runs as a second-hand sets (it also ran in Katowice Interurbans until 2021 for ten years, but still runs in Sarajevo, Braila and Craiova). The E series began to be produced in 1959 and ended production in 1990, with the last E2 set being produced for Vienna. Today, these trams (alongside with 105Nas) are first trams to retire in Krakow, as these trams are now being replaced with Stadler Tango Lajkoniks (named after legendary figure, also known as Tatarzyn, which was to be a Tatar dressed like a horse, which appeared in a legend, which is based on 2nd Mongol Invasion of Poland, in which, the Battle of Kraków of 1240 took place, which was one of largest defeats of Poland). However, GT8Ns, unlike E series, are regularly modernised to have a low-floor section to become accessible for everyone (including people on wheelchair), to get them a second life (that's why it's cheaper to buy old bidirectional trams and rebuild them instead of buying of new ones).
