Building "shadow arms factories" in collaboration with Ukraine is a good idea. Not only will it make what Ukraine needs, it can develop versions more suited to its needs, rationalise the the tooling, training, spares and logistics. The transfer of western know-how (technology, design, production engineering, logistics and business acumen like JIT, ERP, etc.) will bring Ukraine firmly within the fold or orbit of western nations and facilitate NATO and/or EU membership, something that most Ukrainians appear to want. Britain built "shadow arms factories" in 1935-1940 to build arms, an example of which is Browns Lane, developed by the Government in collaboration with industry and managed by The Daimler Company Ltd, that built Supermarine Spitfires and Avro Lancasters. Supermarine did not have the capacity to build more than a handful of Spitfires a year and was located in a vulnerable spot near Southampton. The design was production engineered for volume manufacturing using techniques borrowed from the automotive industry, and if memory serves me correctly, about 14,000 of the 22,000-odd Spitfires were built there. Ditto making millions of standardised howitzers, 3.7" AA guns, Bren machine guns, etc. often at 1/9 of the cost of the German equivalents, a notable exception of which was the Spitfire as it took more manhours to build than most contemporaries.

I think it's most important our common support for Ukraine be relentless and sticky. The Kremlin's game is always to run out the clock, cause they can't do stuff militarily, but they're good on disinformation and creating chaos which they plan on profiting from. So I think it's essential we don't loosen up or give in, not even a bit, because that's what they bank on us doing. As Biden said, and Scholz said the same thing, Putin underestimated western unity and resolve. And that's a fact.

US is ramping up production on 155mm shells, powder and primers with all the needed shipping supplies. Goal is 500% increase over the next two years. @user-od1yi5iq1k
@user-od1yi5iq1k Жыл бұрын
The US has also stated that it intends to fill its own depleted stockpiles before delivering to Ukraine. It will be hilarious to see the entire M1 battlion stuck in the mud or blown to pieces by artillery. Ukraine has lost more than 1000 tanks already and the M1 will only add to this number.

Other allies combined together probably donate Ukraine with more than 100 additional tanks. So in 2022 Ukraina has at least: 2000+250+100+100=2450tanks. It seems that now they badly need more military vehicle (Bradley reach Ukraine few days ago not without reason). These are my rough calculation which from I take asamptions that ukraina lost already about 2000tanks,

About making a factory line in Poland, I made a suggestion months ago to the swedish ambassador in Georgia, by email, so I have no idea if he ever saw it,( just to be clear I have no personal or business association with any of these people), as well as sent a few messages around about doing something like this with a Gripen factory. Use the expat community as one of the major labor inputs establish a second line of the Gripen in Poland or Sweden if they're willing to take that many displaced Ukrainians, of course use some local labor, but essentially increase the capacity of making these weapon systems while using the displaced population of Ukraine for the benefit of both Ukraine and the local state as well as the state that provides the technology. This is not only sensible it is absolutely necessary. This should be done with other either so-called obsolete weapon systems like the Gepard, or newer technologies meant to both replenish replace anything Ukraine uses as well as leverage the marketplace system. This would of course also help with all of the displaced Ukrainians, or at least some of them
@hide3reptiles365

It is interesting that the percentage of ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea in 2013 was about 15% which is similar to the percentage of Ukrainians in many of the areas of what was Eastern Poland in the 1940s (now Western Ukraine) - including the city of Lwow (Lvov, Lviv) - where more than 80% were ethnic Poles... This small percentage of ethnic Ukrainians was enough to wipe out most of the Poles in the so-called Volhynian Massacres in the 1940s (when most of the able-bodied Polish men were off fighting the WWII Germans).... The Ukrainians did the "cleansing" with axes, knives, hammers, sickles, and pitchforks...

Re the corruption issue, I'm glad to see Zelensky takin a hard line. The people of Ukraine have sacrificed, and will continue to sacrifice so much that the minimum they can expect, and should demand, is a clean polity and business class. This is at any rate a minimal requirement for their political aspirations re the EU and NATO.

Sevastopol is a Russian city. So is Simferopol, Yalta ,Nikolaeve, Odessa, Kharkov, Dnipro, Kiev, Vinnistra, Donetsk , Horlovaka , Mariupol. All were founded by Russians and are to this day inhabited by ethnic Russian who speak Russian and see themselves as Russian but because of the chaotic collapse of the Soviet Union they found themselves living in a foreing and increasing hostile made up country.

Good to hear! What is it General McCaffrey tells us about the M1 Abrams tank? Supposedly there is huge number of these in Europe allready and they could be transferred and applied within a month or so. He even says they are NOT complicated for the operator and not a subject of concern with regards to the russians to copy or steal classified technology. In other words M1Abrams could be applied immediately and make a huge difference. Sounds suspicious to me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIWTaYSKZq-WZpo&ab_channel=MSNBC

I agree 87 Challenger 2 MBTs would make a full NATO 1 Brigade Armored Team MBT component. Even 58 Challenger 2 MBTs would allow 1 Brigade Infantry Team. It would take 152 IFVs/APCs to round out either Brigade. The UK is also sending 1 Regiment Artillery. Nevertheless, 14 Challenger 2s is a tad light. Keep in mind, the US would backfill the UK if necessary from its Abrams stock. US Abrams runs best mileage and speed on jet fuel. It’s the only ALL fuel MBT. Kerosene and 150 proof vodka will get just as good mileage. Diesel fuel will work in an Abrams but will lower speed and range. It also drinks a lot of fuel. The Ukrainian military build up could reach 4 Brigades with the above UK help. 1 Brigade Armored Team: Poland-73 Leopard 2 MBTs; Germany-14 Leopard 2 MBTs; Germany-40 Marder IFVs; Sweden-50 IFVs; Canada-50 Senator APCs; Denmark-19 Caesar 155MM SP Artillery. 1 Brigade Armored Team: Spain-53 Leopard 2 MBTs; Germany-19 Leopard 2 MBTs; Canada-4 Leopard 2 MBTs; Portugal-4 Leopard 2 MBTs; Finland-2 Leopard 2 MBTs; Sweden-2 Leopard 2 MBTs; Norway-2 Leopard 2 MBTs; US-109 Bradley M2 IFVs; Canada-50 Senator APCs; Sweden-6 Archer 155MM Artillery; Estonia-6 M109 155MM SP Artillery. 1 Brigade Infantry Team: UK-14 Challenger 2 MBTs; Canada-100 Senator APCs. 1 Brigade Artillery: UK-30 AS90 155MM SP Artillery; Estonia-24 M109 155MM SP. 1 Battalion Recon: US-20 Stryker Light Tanks; US-70 Stryker IVFs; US-50 Hummers. 1 Battalion Recon: France-40 AMX 10 Light Tanks; France-60 VABs IFVs; France-20 ACMAT Bastions; US-50 Hummers.

@@Albert-Mag... I suggested this in March of 2022. Ukrainian Military saw a demo on A10s. The elected to stay with their SU52. The F16s should be able to do the same roll with smart munitions while being a better fighter jet than the MIG29. The coming Ukrainian Offensive will be lead by airpower. It will not attack Moscow. It will focus on Russian air defenses and air fields from Belograd to Krasnodar. Attacking Ukrainian jets may never leave Ukrainian air space. While this occurs, a Ukrainian artillery prep will set up the battlefield. If the Russian Military missed Desert Storm/Kuwaiti Freedom, this will be an up close and personal replay by the “B Team” Ukraine.

I think it would be a wonderful idea to build Ukrainians war supplies factories in Poland, however, if the factories are located in Poland. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t be under article 5 of NATOin they are located in Poland. They could also provide employment to the desplace Ukrainians, along with any Poles who are out of work or just want to help.

Scrap metall sold to the EU to benefit from the war - that is what is happening. Sell the old stock out , the scrap metall of Leo 2 A4 build from 1985 onwards and not the A6 needed. These old LEO 2 will be easy picks and success for the russians with the Javellin they have already conquered from the Ukrainians cause the have not much to offer and in 1985 the major goal of the LEO 2 was a defense role , to slow the advance of soviet tank formations by shooting and a fast retreat, not an offense as they will be used for sure cause in the Ukraine once at the front line all the guide lines taught in the trainings will be ignored as seen with the Panzerhaubitze that had been abused beyond the sspecs when the Ukrainians began to complain. But Poland is selling old scrap metal tanks they had gotten for cheap from germany back then now for what price to the EU ? 10% of what Poland had paid decades ago or are they selling them for profit ? Time to open the real motivations after the first american abrams had arrived to start the debate and put pressure onto germany not to help, but to sell for profit those tanks in bad shape. And the manufacturer has no capacity to upgrade and refurbish these tanks to more modern standard at least A6 level of protection from 2005 or so. What a huge mess, how all these countries become war benefitters like hell.

Totally. As a matter of fact I don't think those Abrams will ever reach Ukraine, and that's a good thing. The fact that they're saying it's 9-12 months till they get there, when they've got many right now they could give them means to me at the "last minute" they'll make a deal, probably with Poland, to give them the 31 Abrams, and that will free up 30-40 Leopards to go to Ukraine. I mean the Poles are buying the Abrams anyway. They've got huge contracts that need to be fulfilled. Would be insane to send the Abrams to Ukraine.
