I've never heard a single Brit mourn the loss of any of his/her country's former colonies. Especially not that one that Simonyan claimed was in the Ukrainian territory that Russia is now occupying. They clearly have a very different modern history curriculum in Russian schools.

Putin had a guy rewrite all the history text books in schools to better explain to them how mean the West is, what a victim Russia is, and how Russia will defeat them all, just wait. Or something along those likes. They even included a whole section on the SMO in Ukraine even though it was still not done. The books and revised curriculum was almost 2 years ago I think. And as a citizen of a former Brit colony I have to say that mostly we are fine with it, we enjoy feting the Queen and now King and everyone gets along fine, unlike Russia who has to lie about who they are invading and why.

Oreshnik is a slight modification of the existing RS-26 Rubezh, an intermediate range ballistic missile produced since 2011. That missile was designed to replace the old Soviet era RSD-10 Pioneer which was in service since 1976. These large ballistic missiles only become hypersonic on descent because of the suborbital trajectory and this is nothing new, missiles like this have been around since the 1950s.

What is needed are the words that will penetrate the Russian psyche to make them understand that no one is against Russia. We in the west believe that Ukraine is a sovereign nation. Oh, and as for Britain mourning the loss of its colonies, the Brits oversaw the most peaceful relinquishment of colonies the world has ever seen. That's how desperately they clung on to them. No mourning going on there. It turns out that being the most powerful and scientifically literate nation at any period of history tends to lead to moral improvement - Russia should try it sometime.
