You don’t know how many videos I’ve looked up to try and get someone to explain this

Nice! I have been waiting for quite involving deriviations. Good job Master Wu. I was about to pass put because you forgot to put the denominator of y^(2) but at the end you did. After all that it would be disasterous.

I did a search on Khan Academy for the polar equation of an ellipse, and I was surprised to come up empty. Luckily I found this excellent video. Well done!

Nice video! I have two questions for you. 1 - Isn't c supposed to have two values, negative and positive ea ? 2 - About the positive one, as c = e²d/(1-e²) and p = -e²d/(1-e²), what does it mean c = -p? Thank you.

1) Yes, as an ellipse as 2 focal points, but this is only really relevant in cartesian coordinates 2) I don't know if this has any major significance in the polar form. It just confirms that the focus is located at (0,0) as p has the same magnitude as c.

thank you sir.i have a problem.at 4:46 you have derived the polar formula of any type of conic sections but why did it lead to be the formula of an ellipse at the end?i'm confused.pleas help!

Hey sir iam a bsc maths student from india and this video helped me a lot,thank you sir.....🙏🙏🙏🙏..i have a doubt at 12:10 why did you give( y^2)÷1-e^2

When e=1, you end up dividing by zero and you are left with infinities. Can you please explain how to go from the polar to the cartesian representation of a parabola? I have yet to find an explanation for this. Thank you in advance Master Wu.
@MasterWuMathematics6 жыл бұрын
I understand what you are saying, but if you pause the video at 7:37 and take the equation... (1 - e^2)x^2 + 2e^2dx + y^2 = e^2d^2 when e = 1, we get 2dx + y^2 = d^2. Then rearrange to get y^2 = d^2 - 2dx, which is an equation for a parabola.
