Looks like a lot of HR mismatch can be explained by a slight lag and sometimes by temporal smoothing. You could first correct for the lag by a fixed time shift and then do the correlation.

Love your videos Rob, such a shame Polar does not nails it in your test. It's one of the last true European manufactures, what kind of matters to me for data storage. Deviations from previous Polar devices could be explained by "single test subject" :) Which is also true for all the other devices you tested. Un/fortunately, humans and their body parts including wrists come in different shapes and sizes and what's a good fit for one, isn't necessarily good for other. Also good that you're pointing that sleep stage tracking (which in reality no one cares for) and sleep tracking are two different things. Wouldn't mind to see you give scores for both measures.

Please do Scanwatch 2 from Withings! We'd like to know if they improved :) they changed the sensors I could see. Please focus on the HR accuracy for night time and rest time as this is not a sport watch. I'd like to use it to follow a patient with a heart failure.

I'm sorry but this is just not good enough from Polar. Most of the people interested in Polar watches will be coming from their (best in the market) HR straps, and will expect better. I was hoping they'd do an early replacement of the Vantage / Grit with new sensors. Instead it looks like they're heading for another 3+ year life cycle on this sensor generation ... by which time the performance of this sensor will be even more disastrous than it is now. Surely they can do better than this.

Let's face it... Polar watches are crap. It's crazy how they can make such great chest straps, yet their wrist worn wearables underperform so badly. I would never recommend them to anyone... their performance to price is bad. Thanks for the review Rob- hope you can get better rest soon.
