There are a lot of holes in Conor's striking game, thing is, his last 3 fights have been an illusion to noobie mma fans. He fought Diaz his last 2 fights and no offense to Diaz but he isn't a smart guy. Then before that was Aldo in 13 seconds. And before was vs Mendes where he barely won against someone who took the fight with no full camp. If Alvarez is smart he'll utilize feigns and close the gap immediately after Conor throws one of his leg kicks and throw a flurry when he's off balance. You guys will see, remember to like this comment after Alvarez beats Conor in this exact fashion.

People are crazy thinking Conor has no bjj, he's just had bad situations where he couldn't really show it was gassed and rocked against Diaz 1, Diaz 2 played it smart didn't wanna waste energy on the ground, think it's safe to say at 170 the tank is just shorter. Mendes he had something with his mcl and knee. No way a guy who has a bjj black belt as his head coach would be dead legged like he was on the grounds with Mendas unless something was wrong he has to much knowledge. Yet still rolled out the guillotine. and casual fans who think he has nothing on ground go watch him vs Holloway. No trying to be a defender but the man deserves fair honest and measured judgment.

People sleep on Conors Cardio because of his performances as a Welterweight. Just because Conor walks around around 165 doesn't mean that's his optimal fighting shape. As a featherweight, he can easily go five rounds and as a lightweight he won't be much different. Eddies in trouble.

Question I got guys is how intense is Conor's training meaning as in real fight situation or is really pushed to the point where he loses or comes off second in wrestling / grappling situations ? What areas on the ground did last night performance show where Conor needs to improve ? Would like to know as I am learning the craft as a novice
@Math_Yeww
@Math_Yeww 5 жыл бұрын
@@tonyjlorns1727 Unfortunately for most Western European fighters there is no system of learning and competing in Olympic quality wrestling at a young age. By the time you become an adult there is a gap you can't fill even if you become a top BJJ guy. Conors ability to stop/not stop the takedown isn't something he can really work on too much at this point.
@tonyjlorns1727
@tonyjlorns1727 5 жыл бұрын
Matthew Leeming Intresting Matthew thank you for the feedback, so what your saying most Western fighters will be at a disadvantage whenever they face someone like Kabibs level of grappling which he has been learning since a kid? Do you know how hard the level of intensity is in someone like Conor's training camp? Can it replicate a real fighting scenario or not ? Also was the fact Conor didn't have a single warm up fight in 2 years a major factor or not in him losing that fight or not? In my own sport football you wouldn't go straight to a new season without a pre season. Perhaps that's not a good anology but you understand my point. They way Conor and his team were talking pre fight they were supremely confident of winning this fight or that was the narrative anyway and every possible outcome was covered for the fight. Or is that unfair on Kabibs obvious ability on the night? Cheers Tony

@@Math_Yeww not true at all. Wrestlings popularity is weird. It's very popular academically (at schools) but outside of that it's completely dead. So if you want to wrestle on a team for seven years (middle through Highschool) you can do so very easily. And you can get another four in college if you're skilled enough. But outside of a school setting karate, taekwondo and even judo and boxing are much more readily available. But given bjjs popularity I think it would be fairly easy for an American to reach khabibs grappling level by wrestling for eleven years with bjj/judo in the off season. The US has produced many olympic wrestling champions including Jordan Burroughs who is currently active, so in my opinion it is silly to say that there is no wrestling here. But that's just my opinion and you're free to form your own

Such a great quote from Conor. Saying all these different martial arts and communities say he can’t do this and that but he says let’s fight, they say oh only under these rules. It’s true what Conor said, all these boxers wanna say Conor can’t box yet they wouldn’t ever step in an octagon or the street with Conor, bjj and wrestlers say he can’t grapple but they wouldn’t fight him.

The thing is the fight against Nate showed what experience in jui jitsu can bring, it brings an extra element like its second nature for them. Phizix Lmao Brendan Shaub?might as well quote buzzfeed while you're at it. And the irony of it is that you're quoting a guy who also watched the footage. He wasn't even an eyewitness you dumbass. Listen to what Brian Ortega said since he actually MET Danis at a club after the brawl. The guy was quite and scared and told brian what happened. Brian also had to send some of his guys to escort him fearing he doesn't get his ass kicked again on the street. Well you can believe whatever you want to believe to make yourself feel better.

Connor has grappling ability. Nate choked him out but he was already gassed and hurt from strikes. That's what made it easier for Nate to choke him out. DO PEOPLE FORGET that Nate has been submitted in mma. Hermes Franca arm bared Nate early in his mma career. Do people doubt Nates grappling skills just because he was submitted early in mma fights. So why doubt that Connor can't grapple? People forget i guess that Connor swept Nate in round 1 from guard with butterfly hooks. That's a sample of his grappling skill.
@zmanafacation
@zmanafacation 7 жыл бұрын
when nate was submitted he was a 20 year old white belt who was fighting for the WEC lightweight championship against the champion, a jiu jitsu black belt. more so, he got caught in an armbar, not a choke. when conor got submitted he was a brown belt, a champion of a division, had a huge mouth and was biggest star in mma. im assuming youre smart enough to realize the differences and why people gave conor shit for tapping.
@brandenvawter4694
@brandenvawter4694 7 жыл бұрын
Razy (AKA Chocolate-Thunder) i see the difference and i didn't say Nate got rnc i said he got amr locked. Did you see Connor sweep Nate in the 1st round of their 1st fight. Also he defended against Chad Mendes giotine choke. So his grappling is pretty good for mma.

Branden Vawter that was very nicely done, but it was pretty cllear nate let him sweep him and went with the transition so he could try to attack off his back. also didnt you see what happened when conor attempted the same thing he attempted with chad mendes against nate? nate blocked the escape and dominated him. conors offensive jiu jitsu is very good, but his defense is VERY suspect. Firas Zahabi, Eddie Bravo, Matt Serra and many others agree.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that.

You do understand context right? There are rules in some jitsu matches with the gi that some other tournament does or doesn't have with the GI and same with no GI. There is a whole set of rules with this kickboxing or that kickboxing tournament. MMA has a set of rules no matter what that all MMA fights have. An regulations...he wasn't complaining about regulations. I dont believe he has a problem with there being weight classes or no PEDS, those are regulations and he never said anything about that. MMA universal rules are very basic.

Even though most people talking about McGregor including myself talk about him like they are black belts and know what they are doing, Conor needed to up his game. It's clear where his strengths are and they are not in ground fighting and submissions, not compared to his boxing. That doesn't mean he's bad at everything apart from boxing. Compared to an amateur, Conor would rinse 99.9999% of people in BJJ. Having said that, that doesn't mean he's the best either. Not by a long margin. Nate for example in his last fight has a BJJ base. You can tell that McGregor's base is boxing. He clearly got caught out being matched up by a fighter that had a more diverse skill set and I think that's why we are seeing him focus on his BJJ now he knows that his one trick one punch knockouts might not be enough to end every fight. To be fair, he's barely climbed the ladder in the UFC. His reputation has proceeded his fights and so he's been given way more opportunities than any other fighter but that's what happens when you bring MONEY to table and more of it than any other employee in the company you work for. As he carries on going up, he will continue to be tested and face adversity than will surpass his iron heart and solid mind. Words can be only mean so much and eventually, all you will see is the foundations he had before his talk got to where he is now. And that's why he's focusing on other areas, to get his rhythm back and get back into fighting the real fight rather than the bravado and pomp of glitz and glamour of his fame and fortune.
