Well, i think the reasons for such behaviour of polaris given by Gaurav sir can be true but i have a different theory Guys i think we forgeting the basic thing that polaris is a three star system and polar star that we see is observed collectively(including polar a and ab) then how can we apply the laws of common cephied stars, which exists independently, i mean it can be possible that the both stars collectively are showing such irregularities.

Nice video. But Calibrating telescopes don't need just Polaris. Even if it is gone or not visible, telescopes can be star aligned using 3 star alignment, drift align etc.. To calibrate( polar align) all you need is Long n Lat values and the mounts that these telescopes are placed on are set according to this value. So technically there is no need of Polaris to align a mount. Longitude, Latitude and PLATE SOLVING can do the job of Aligment and GOTO functions of any mount n telescope.🙂
