Man that Boss unit does work. Having the hydraulic control is sweet. I wish I was plowing on asphalt in stead of gravel. Pretty challenging, especially with a non-hydraulic straight blade.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hey macgyver515, I talked with you last year, I have a 16 Ranger 900xp with a pro glazier 72 in with hydro up/down and side to side. I have pushed a lot of snow with it {worn out one wear bar} the problem I seem to have is the wind rows that are left behind. I am in the process of building one for each side as I feel that I can make up some much time if I didn't have to go back and clean those up. I use mine a lot as I have many customers that call me to do driveways to small business lots. Time is money for me. I do have the power window doors as I bought the hunter deluxe package in 16.You can not get that on the 1000 which I have a friend that has one and I don't care for the power mode switch. I am sure I have told you but I use the gated shifter and the four button switch on the shifter. Love your videos!

I think it looks more like 6.5 inches, and I will post that opinion here so everyone can see how my more expert assessment of the snow is more meaningful than yours even though I am also not there to see it in person. Either one of us could be right. Probably me, because I'm more knowledgeable than you are, in my own opinion, but what really matters is that the OP is definitely wrong here. He was there in person, but probably still wrong. and the internet must be made aware of that. Psssshhh... "8 inches" Hopefully you pick up on my sarcasm here. There is no need to correct the O.P. just to be a douche. Here are the ACTUAL recorded snow storm totals in NH from that storm, town by town. Because clearly the facts need to be presented here to hold the OP accountable to accuracy, since apparently thats the important take-away from this video.... www.wmur.com/article/town-by-town-new-hampshire-snow-totals-jan-17-18/8610374

I'm from Nebraska and it's January 25th 2020. I have what I believe is a 2009 Polaris ranger 700XP. A few ?s about my ranger as it didn't come with a manual if anyone can answer since I don't know alot about rangers...Since it's winter...first ?...(1) where I live, there is about 3 inches of heavier crunchy snow on the ground. Been using it in four wheel drive. Just the other day, in high gear, it seemed like it was kinda having a hard time chewing through the snow. Once it got going, it was fine. Technically, how much snow can a ranger go through in four wheel drive without getting stuck? Can a person just "hammer" down on the gas driving through snow or does a person need to ease through the snow? (2) On flat terrain, in four wheel drive driving through snow, is it better to drive in high or low gear? (3) here recently the past few weeks once in awhile if I'm trying to shift from reverse to high gear or from neutral to reverse or neutral to high gear, the shifter wants to stick and I can't get to release. Anyone know what's causing this? (4) where on these rangers can I find the dipstick to check the oil? If the oil level is low, approximately how many quarts are rangers supposed to take? What's the recommended oil to use...10w? 5w? Any help from anyone who is familiar with Polaris rangers, thankyou in advance.

Really enjoyed your clip. In your opinion do you think a 500 cc utv would be big enough to plow with? My drive is all downhill except for up by the house and garage. I was thinking I could push going down and clean up at the bottom where it's also fairly level then run back up and push down. I'm new to this utv stuff and you are obviously not! What you think? Bite the bullet and get a bigger Ranger?
@macgyver515
@macgyver515 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on what your needs are. The smaller UTV would need a lighter weight plow, as I'm sure you know. You need to research what it's rated for. It should have no trouble with almost any straight blade on the market. If you're wanting a V plow, then I would say go with the bigger UTV.. But a straight blade is a very good option as well, and much less expensive. It just really depends on what your needs are. I just posted a new video today of an update on my whole set up since it's been 2 years. Good luck.

@macgyver515
@macgyver515 4 жыл бұрын
No issues. I have had normal wear and tear on the cutting edge of the plow. But not bad. Both have been great over the past four years. My best advice is regular maintenance on both, greasing annually, plow in low (always), and always plow with stock size tires. If the ranger is too high (tires/lift) it will mess with the angle, and put more strain on the front. It will dig, rather then smoothly push. In my opinion anyway, for what it's worth. Good luck.

It's a heavy plow, no question, but with heavier after market front springs it does very well. The gator or kabota will have stiffer setup in the front end then the Ranger, with a little less nose dive. However, the Ranger was the best overall fit for all the things I use it for on the property. There has been no premature front wear yet, when I service it every spring. So far so good. Definitely use ballast with a plow this heavy for your UTV....in my opinion anyway.

I have had no slippage of the belt, burning, or any problem so far. Knock on wood. The best advice I would give you, is ALWAYS plow in low. That will greatly increase the life of the belt if you plan on using it to plow/push. Especially if it's as heavy as the Boss plow, along with any ballast you add. Good luck, im sure it will do just fine.

Ok I picked up the quad today with the Boss V. Installed. 2 questions for u. I notice moving both wings at the same time seems a bit sluggish. For instance, if I put the blade in Scoop, the right wing will slow down and sometime stop till the left one is fully in scoop. Is that normal? And the other is, when lowering the blade. When i push down on the control, it drops the blade all the way to the ground. There is no lowering it an inch or 2. Is that normal? How’s urs work?
@Sara-L
@Sara-L 6 жыл бұрын
The sluggish behavior might have to do with the hydraulic flow rate. When you move both wings the flow is going at 1/2 capacity to both wings. The dropping of the blade to the ground might be a technical glitch or quirk of design - might do well to consult with the troubleshooting manual (if there is one) or talking to the manufacturer. www.bossplow.com/en/product-selector
@Deerector
@Deerector 6 жыл бұрын
Sara Llewellyn yeah exactly what i was thinking and i spoke with the Boss tech the other day and he said the same thing that you said about the wings but he said in time it should break in a little and it might have better flow because the fluid travels to the path of least resistance and it feeds the left wing first. And as far as the dropping he said there’s a plug I can take out and replace with a new one but drill a smaller hole and that would make the blade come down slower.
@macgyver515
@macgyver515 6 жыл бұрын
The speed at which the blade goes down can be adjusted with an adjustment screw on the plow. As far as the issue with moving both wings at once, it can result in a slightly slower response, but not significant.
@macgyver515
@macgyver515 6 жыл бұрын
Increased demand on the hydraulics t o move both at the same time will be dictated by hydraulic flow rate. Again, it shouldn't be dramatic. Make sure the system is properly bled, and boss fluid is being used, and do not overfill the system. Good luck
@Deerector
@Deerector 6 жыл бұрын
macgyver515 yeah, Nah they are good now. About a day or so into plowing and they starting working together. I called Boss and they said that would happen. They said, it will break in, the fluid will flow through and everything willl break in and move normal. It’s working perfectly.
