That looks awesome, been thinking about buying one, I live near mountains with windy roads and I only live 3 minutes from work. I thought this would be a fun vehicle for me. I think I would add a top and a full size windscreen in case I got stuck in the rain.

@@WildBill1120 as far as slingshade reimbursing me for the paint job, yes. But the slingshade is a poorly designed top. It's an easy installation but it's too expensive and too flimsy, and no matter who installs it whether it's you or a professional, you are going to get some rubs or what I like to call hot spots that causes the SS to wear away damaging the paint and the frame. I only bought it because I loved how it looked. I sold it in February 2020. I loved the look of the slingshot and the SS but truth be told It's just a money pit. Edit: I think I still have a video of a NEW slingshot on the showroom floor that had the same problem.

It sucks so many people gave issues with these. I really wanted one for my 2019 because it the only roof I've seen so far that even looks decent in my opinion. I hope Polaris will correct the design in the future. Until then I'm not going to buy one

I loved the look of the slingshade. It was just too expensive and poorly made.

Maybe add some rubber tabs between movable surfaces. They must have been too cheap to add insulation.

Was looking at your vid and realized some of the issues not like top doesn't have its factory issues. But also it's warping bc the paint booth has a baking 110-130 degrees cycle which plays havoc on fiberglass when I paint fiberglass I paint warm no baking cycle

I'm curious as to how tall you are and if you have a problem seeing with the slingshade on. I'm 6'2 and I'm worried if I buy one I'm going to have to hunch down to see while I drive.

Can you adjust the roll bar forward on the driver side? They slotted the newer version to allow for some fore/aft adjustment. It may help.

Mine was installed from the dealer and it never fit right. Always gaps the glass in the in the center started falling out when in the sun. But it never fit properly

@Cindy Sue, I thought about getting rid of it, but nah.🤔 I love it. Nothing "in my opinion" compares to it. The look/design, the feel of driving it, the lights, the sound etc. I just serve as a warning of things to be aware of when purchasing a few accessories. That new Vette is banging tho.

Yeah I wish I had known about the Slingshade before buying that expensive roof. My drivers side doesn't fit right either and Woods inner Braunfels, TX. , won't do anything about it, not only did I buy a 2023 R, I also bought a 2022 SLR so 2 Slingshots in one day!!! I really disappointed in TEXAS!!!!!

Yeah! Cool, like that would make a difference. I had two choices. I could either pay the dealership $500 to $1,000 to install or take an hour, and some common sense, and do it myself. I chose to keep the $1000. The product quality is trash and overpriced.

Hey as this is the 2016 model, did you have to buy new roll hoops? I heard that the sling shade is only for the 2017 model and newer. I have the exact same model as you and i'd like to get a sling shade as well. Great mods on your slingshot!!

Yeah. Had to get new roll hoops. I sent them mine and they reimburse me $400. They sent me the new top and reimburse me for the custom paint job, but it still didn't fit perfectly. I had to buy a strip of aluminum and fabricate a base for the bottom right arm of the frame. Now it fits a lot better, still not perfect, but better. Contact me if you need help figuring this out if you decide to get one

I think I paid $3,200 for the top and they sent me the roll Hoops that I needed. When I sent them my roll Hoops they reimbursed me $400. I don't have the same level of issues closing the top as I did before as you see in the video but it's still not quite 100%. I don't have the same rub spots as I did before so that's a big plus. My only issue is that left arm of the frame had a huge gap so it wasn't seated properly. I had to replace the short bolts for longer ones and build the base "support bracket" for the left arm of the frame to sit on. If I had to do it all over again I would. It's a great-looking top and it's about 90% perfect

SignThatArtist hey i too have a 2016 LE model and have been trying to research how to get compatible with slingshade.. is only needed is roll bar hoops ? Do i need new roll bars ? Also i have headrest speaker pods will attaching slingshade be a problem?

I forget what brand stereo. I think maybe pioneer but it was also a DVD player. I sold this 2 years ago and bought a Honda pioneer 1000-5. I had it installed, but I do remember it wasn't difficult for the guy

I live in North Carolina but no you do not need a motorcycle license to drive in California.

I live in Nor Cal and own a 2015 SL, no MC license needed, but a helmet IS required.

The slingshade isnt compatible with the 2016's. 2017 and newer only. This iwhy you are having issues.

Truthfully Travis Fletcher, the slingshade really isn't compatible with any slingshot no matter the year or model. It just looks good. It's a cool design, but a TRASH TOP. I've been in MANY bike stores and seen many BRAND NEW slingshots with NO mileage on them with many "what I call" hotspots on it. I said NO mileage. Rubbed/worn spots from the gull wings touching the frame, and gull wings looking warped with huge gaps when you close and secure it to the frame. The same identical issues I had with mine. I only bought it because it's a cool looking top. But, I will say this, "thanks to my creativity and ability" (LOL) my issues are minimal since I fabricated a bracket under the front arm, driver side of the frame. Damn near perfect. It's just my toy. And unfortunately, I waste a lot of money on toys.

I see that this is your 2nd top? Is there a reasoning for the top? Your slingshot looks good without it. I will say the 1st top you had was one that initially caught my eye as well as far as top goes. I just couldn't justify the costs at the time. The other tops doesn't do the sling any justice so I ride without one for now. The madstad top is another top that looks ok, but the prices are outrageous, so I'm still waiting at this point. I did buy a fender from metrics and it was slightly off on rear bottom? But by this time, I had already paid to have it installed etz. Also, I always wear a hat and sunscreen when I ride. The jury is still out on a top until the prices come down and its only 3 that in my opinion gives the sling any justice. The slingshade, the metrics top and the madstad top. I'm sure everything will work out for you, just hate the headaches that comes with the process. Lorenzo

It just looks better with the top in my opinion plus it helps out a lot when riding in direct sunlight. I love the look of the slingshade. Kinda reminds me of the movie Alien with its shape. And I do agree, the price on ANY aftermarket slingshot stuff is just ridiculous.
