Actually you had a great entry level Mountain sled; the 600 RMK. It was a great crossover sled with a 2" paddle. Fun for boon docking, not bad on the trails, and adequate in the mountains for most people. It seems the Matryx 650 RMK is a great entry mountain sled. If you could put an adjustable front end on the Assault, it would be a better crossover. I own one and I don't like the wide ski stance for side hills. (I also own an RMK)

Are the running boards the same between SP and PRO?

A few years back was in the market for a basic no frills woods/trapper style sled and while I had briefly considered a Voyager, from the start my mind was set on a Skidoo Tundra so got that and have no complaints whatsoever about it except for it's weight. Fast forward to this past season and one of my neighbours purchased a new Voyageur so finally got to test ride one. So glad I didn't buy that model as the build quality, fit and finish looks to be sub-par.

I've completely given up on Polaris over the endless recalls. The one that pushed me over the edge was the Stop Ride Recall on my '24 Sportsman 850 that was 1-1/2 months old when it came out (in April or May, I forget) with no FIX until SEPTEMBER. So no use at all over the entire Summer. That is absolutely inexcusable. Then there was that BS "don't run non-ethanol fuel in your sled" recall, complete with a new sticker. WTF. The motor was designed to use non-ethanol and I even read more than one report online about warranty claims being denied because a fuel sample test yielded ethanol in the fuel. So yeah, that's massive BS... tell us to run ethanol fuel and then deny us when we need warranty work. The Sportsman is getting sold as is my '23 Khaos. Done.

polaris sure loves their word salad. flickable, instantanious lift, approachable, recallable. not so much reliable. i've owned polaris since 1981. dirt and snow. worked at a dealer for 8 years. since 2005 things have gone down hill. prices are ridiculous.

As an 06 RMK owner, the new sleds are a completely different ride. After going back to my 06, its like riding a brick. Prices are ridiculous though, you're right about that.
