I am disappointed by the position of the Nigerian Police Force to exempt itself from the Rivers State Local Government Elections, citing a federal high court judgment. That is an abdication of their duty under the statute. It is antithetical to say a court can stop an institution like the police force from performing its constitutional duty

Edo is a different ball game because it is a federal INEC that organized that election. But even at that Obaseki PDP still defeated all the federal might until that had write the result inside INEC office. Obaseki won his local government election too

The Rivers local government election held on October 5th, 2024, while not perfect, was a significant improvement compared to any election overseen by INEC. It demonstrated that peaceful, free, and fair elections are possible in Nigeria. Unfortunately, the Nigeria Police neglected their constitutional duties to protect citizens and property during the election due to their partisan involvement. Yet, despite the absence of police security, the election remained peaceful. This underscores the fact that the police, often partisan, are a major contributor to election-related violence. The current police force seems to operate as an extension of the APC, doing the bidding of the president and his allies, regardless of party lines. I believe we are reaching a point where citizens will rise to reclaim the country from the unrepentant thieves and fraudsters who currently govern Nigeria. May God bless the people of Nigeria! Long live Nigeria!!!

Rivers State needs to consider having State police if the current police force is not willing to provide security to the people of Rivers State. The absence of the police and the military at polling stations in Rivers election is a blessing and explains why the election was free and fair. Militarization of election is antithetical to democracy. Both the police and the military are under the federal government and the tendency is for them to support the party in power during elections.

The police should not be blamed on this matter as they were only obeying the rule of law. It is the Federal High Court judge that gave the ruling that the police obeyed that is to blame. The judiciary of this country has been behaving very irresponsibly lately without exercising proper discretionary actions regarding political decisions in this country!

Howbeit, advising a presidential investigation after deducing that the police should not be allowed to carry out this investigation does not sit well to any neutral persons or organisations. Presidency can not be exempted from the power play and shenanigans being witnessed in Rivers State. People should take time in ruminating over the events of the last one year, whereby an entire state was held into ransom with all sorts of strange characters spewing threats and declarations including those who manipulated the 2023 election' confessions. Hence for proper and sincere investigation reports to ensue, it has to be independent investigation, excluding all parties involved in these disgraceful actions by the police, the judiciary, inec and other governmental institutions. Congratulations to River state. The Police and Army are the biggest problems that we have in our dear county Nigeria. Tinubu has paid all the Police and Soldiers and they work for him. The Police right now in Nigeria doesn't protect Nigerian citizens but few APC members. Tinubu has never been a Democrat but a dictator. When Tinubu was fighting for second term in Lagos during Obasanjo time it was Edo state as Police Boss that helped the situation. Edo state man was a Police Boss in Lagos at that time refused to use his men to help Obasanjo to ring Election. Election was free and fair and Tinubu worn and he served his second term. But Tinubu used his office to ring our Edo election and he has given power to known criminals in Edo state.
